Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Yeah, there should be some passion. This doesn't have to be boring, boring, boring. You don't get bored by baseball. Okay, one thing the game needs is more people like you, you, you. Still have grown men run around tight hands. It's Mookie Betts. It's Daniel Bard. It's Steve Aoki. It's Saltz Lamacchia. This is Brock Holtz. Hey, this is John Lester. Baseball isn't boring. Baseball isn't boring.
Welcome to Baseball Isn't Boring. Here's your host, Rob Ratner. Guess what, Kenley? There's nobody I'd rather be talking to in the world.
Yes, sir. Baseball isn't boring, baby. We're back to it. We're back. When are you going to make me official, man? What do you mean? You are official.
All right, cool. Pen to paper? Yeah, paper, man. We got to do the paperwork. Okay, all right. Well, you've been busy signing contracts, so might as well sign another one. Let's go. Right? Yeah.

Best shape of your life. Best shape of your life. Um, I think the most dedicated off season, I think it is, um, And, you know, I just dedicate it to my mom, man. Off season before that, I didn't do anything. I still have a great season in 2025. But once my mom passed, then, you know, I'm grateful that I spent all that time in off season with her before she passed.
Even that I didn't work out as much. But, you know, this off season I dedicated to her that, you know, I wanted to, you know, be in great shape and be ready for 2026.
Yeah, man, like we talked about it a year ago. People, I don't think people realize what you were going through. We've talked about it a couple different times.
Yeah.

Chapter 2: What inspired Kenley Jansen during the offseason?
No. No. But he's strong.
Yeah.
He's low-key strong.
Yeah, wiry strong.
Yeah.
Well, okay. So Amir Garrett said he's going to do a windmill dunk. Oh, wow. Yeah, he took mine. He took mine. I'm going to show an ab. So what is going to be your opening day? We'll check back in. What is going to be your one thing, one thing which you like, I want to do this by opening day? I might hit 96 opening day.
Yeah. I hit, hey, I never throw 90 in my bullpen, and I hit 90 today in my bullpen.
Did you?

Chapter 3: How did Kenley Jansen prepare for the 2026 season?
So, yeah. Like, this time of the year in bullpen, I throw 84, 81. Ah, la, la. But just East. With East, I just hit 90 today. Spring training, 96. That's the goal. I won't say. I don't know. We'll see. You know, we'll see. But I say, if you want to ask me for my goal, I probably will hit 96 opening day. On opening day, 96.
You say opening day, yeah. Yeah, we can do it. We can buy opening. Where do you guys open? Who do you open with? In San Diego. In San Diego? Yeah, in San Diego. Oh, weather's going to be warm. You're going to be like, yeah, let's go. You're going to be limber. Yeah. All right. That's a good one. That's a good one. I'm writing down.
And the horizontal will be around four, negative four. Because they say the cutter don't cut as much no more, but I will make it cut.
Who said the cutter don't cut?
I don't say the cutter don't cut. It's out there on the street, so I'm just saying that.
I don't say the cutter don't cut. Hey, you know what? That's another good t-shirt. The ideas are popping. The Cutter Still Cuts. If I made that t-shirt, would you wear it? I'd probably wear it, yeah.
The Cutter Still Cuts. Yeah. Just don't make it cut because if it cuts, oh, man, my mouth will be big. It will cut, yeah. I will wear it. I will let people know. I will wear it everywhere. Oh, man. You're going to get in trouble, man.
Why? What are you talking about? Cut and cut. Oh, man. Yeah. Hey, so let me ask you this. So some of the things I want to talk to you about, I do want to talk about the Hall of Fame stuff because as people are listening to this, they're getting ready for the Hall of Fame stuff. It's being announced.
My boy Andrew Jones, baby. Let's go.

Chapter 4: What are Kenley Jansen's thoughts on the Hall of Fame?
No, fuck no. I'm like, oh, that's the closest you've come to retirement. And then he went on this rant about how athletes should never say they're retiring. That should only be people like 65 who work real jobs and military and everything else. Because athletes, they're just stopping playing. They're not retiring. They're just stopping playing. And all of a sudden, boom, boom, it went viral.
Because Joe Kelly doesn't retire, but said he's not playing anymore. No. But anyway, so he's not playing anymore. But I thought it was an interesting way to look at it. Now, I will say this. I don't begrudge anybody who announces their retirement because you want to thank a lot of people, right? Yes. But still, we get what Joe was saying, right? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you have a long life.
You're going to have another 50 years after you throw your last pitch.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, hey, Joe, you know what would be classic? When he turns 60, 65, he's like, okay, I'm officially retiring from baseball. That's classic Joe for you.
Or better yet, when he's 60, he comes out, and he's like, actually, I'm going to pitch another game. He probably was going to throw 100. And I'm going to blow him. Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, man. Yeah, well, so I just – yeah, we'll put that on the back burner. So, Kelly, so why Detroit? Tell me why Detroit. You probably talked about this before, but, you know, you signed fairly early, I guess, in this offseason anyway. Take me through. Take me to behind the scenes of the whole Detroit thing.
I think it was a mutual interest already a year before and you know, When free agent hits, there was the first team that, you know, checked in again. And, you know, we felt that the interest was there. And to me, you know, watching them the last couple of years, you know, how close they are, how they play. And, you know, to me, I want to be a part of that.
You know, they had a really good ball club. They show that they want to win. And to me, I want to be a part of a winning team. That's my take and I chose Detroit. I think watching what they did in the pen and watching how their offense is, the starters, I think it's a pretty good ball club. The way from the front office all the way down, I think it's a very first-class organization and
