A huge welcome to Omar Al-Rubaie, a third year medical student at the University Of Sheffield who is here to talk about The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. It's a first also because this is the first Douglas Adams I've ever read. I'd been aware of Hitchhiker's Guide for a very long time and I had never read it. I confess, I had never wanted to read it and as I was reading it in preparation for the podcast I was thinking "oh my goodness. What have I done". I will say I don't think I'm the target audience for the book and I didn't really get it. You may be relieved to discover that after a conversation with Omar I've started to see that there is so much more in the book than I was getting out of first reading. And I suppose that's one of those reasons why reading books and talking about them is so enormously valuable to get the most out of them. Will I be going on to read the sequel? Pretty unlikely! Did I really enjoy my conversation with Omar? Oh my goodness Yes!!
