Nesbitt is Professor of French and Italian at Princeton University and author or editor of many books including Universal Emancipation: The Haitian Revolution and the Radical Enlightenment (2008). Nesbitt is also the editor of a collection of writings and speeches by Toussaint Louverture, titled The Haitian Revolution (also published in 2008).
