Good. Good to be back. And yeah, congratulations for the spray jackets. It's played a role this week.
Yeah.
In all this rain. Okay. Kept me warm, kept me dry. Yeah, did the one percenters for you? 100%. Kept me blue as well. Led me to the big game.
Yeah, okay. How's the top 30 going? Is it still moving along quite nicely or is it a bit of team issues?
Still moving along quite nicely. Still growing. Still growing. Just a lot more selective now about who we sort of take on. Okay, yeah. You know what I mean? You gotta get through the rigors of it. But I've been pretty lazy myself. So I've been leaning on the top 30. Okay. A fair bit lately, actually.
Really? So they need to pick their leader up? You're a bit injured or something?
Yeah. Yeah. It's not good. Jack and I were speaking before actually about... You know, when you're a leader and how you sort of need to be quite consistent.
Yep.

Chapter 2: How did the Dolphins achieve their first four wins in a row?
This wonderful Friday for us. Bit cloudy here in Sydney. Temperatures of a low, about 10 degrees. Bit of rain, bit of forecast there for you as well, boys. Thought you might want to know that.
Slight southwesterly.
Southwesterly? Northwesterly?
Northwesterly, yeah.
About the same, isn't it? Yeah. You know, someone's like a veteran when they start throwing a lot of southwesterly chatting shit, you know what I mean?
Oh, yeah. I don't even know what that means half the time.
Yeah, I don't even know what high-pressure systems mean.
Yeah, what is a high-pressure system?
I hear that all the time and I think to myself, what's a high-pressure system? I'm not solving that problem for you.

Chapter 3: What challenges are the Raiders facing this season?
Yep.
What about that Horsborough try? Is that the most random rugby league try you've ever seen? Has to be.
Yeah, like Bossy said, I've never seen the ball bounce on the crossbar. Twice. Twice. I've never seen that. I've seen it bounce on a crossbar, but not twice.
He has the magic touch, I think, Corey. He's got the magic touch. Things just happen around him.
Yeah, I'm with you. So what do you reckon, Jake? Are the Raiders done? Are you counting them out?
Well, they're sitting at 12th. So they're not in panic stations yet, but I think they're very similar to the Bulldogs this year. I think there's just a lot of expectation on them. Minor Premiership last year, I think they went into this year with a relatively young squad, besides their old forward pack. And I just think that this year, the expectation's just gone through the roof.
I still think they can make the eight, but it's not looking great at the moment. But if they can start stringing some wins together when they get a few boys back after Origin, hopefully we can see them scrape into the eight.
Jeez, because it starts getting tough. They've only had four wins. And basically, to be in the top eight, most teams have six or seven wins. It's like, jeez, that's a...
It's good to see Owen Paddy back as well. Yeah, he's playing a lot of Cup this year. A few of them have started the year in Cup. I can see Ricky's logic trying to get him some time in New South Wales Cup, but I really did think him and Starlow sort of benefited each other a bit last year in terms of the attack from the middle. It was pretty good. Raiders done for you?

Chapter 4: How do injuries impact team performance in the NRL?
I know that the Raiders came back a little bit, but there's about 80% possession to the Dolphins over the Raiders in the back end of the second half. And it was just, you know, Tamale coming out of end, drop ball and a tackle. Savage probably should have jammed in on that defensive, you know, read, but you can kind of cop that.
You're going to miss tackles on your line, but they just didn't defend their errors. So look, I'm with you boys. I'm not willing to write them completely off from the top eight just yet, but... They're pretty much a week or two away from being up. The season might have passed them by.
Yeah, I think they need to start banking those home wins, especially during winter. I think Vossi made the point.
Seeing the Dolphin Boys running out, they were stinging, bro.
They were rattled, yeah. Vossi made the point during the game where he was like, oh, it's probably a bit colder than Redcliffe. I think there's a lot of teams going down there where you probably can bank some wins, given you're more comfortable down there, but... Yeah, they would be one of those sides.
If they can sneak in at the back end, fuck, you wouldn't want to play them, especially when they're at full strength.
There's a few teams like that, though. I'm just looking at it now. Actually, it's not giving me much confidence. So underneath the Raiders, you've got Parramatta, Melbourne and the Dogs. And then on top of them, you've got Brisbane, the Tigers and North Queensland. So they're sitting at 12th. They've got those three teams under them, three teams above them before the top eight.
It's looking like it's going to be a pretty congested bunch in the middle there to finish the year.
That's tough because, like, you run into the Broncos or Cowboys week one of the finals. They could blow anyone off the park, literally.

Chapter 5: What strategies are discussed for improving team dynamics?
So yeah, do what he played. Yeah, 71 minutes played. So yeah, great from him. Just that edge defense, that right edge. Now I know, you know, Savage, you know, he got put there and he's a more normal winger, but that right edge has just been their Achilles heel for so long, man. So, so long. Onto the Dolphins. Look, it was scrappy.
It was definitely scrappy, but I'm getting higher and higher on the Dolphins every week. Like I really reckon, like right now, I'm going to sound crazy, But I honestly, I would go Penrith. Most likely to win the comp. Penrith, Dolphins, Warriors, Manly.
Have you got dolphins above the watch?
Yes, I do. Just the Tanner Boyd injury just hurts him a little bit. And I know Tamato Martin came in and killed it for sure, but he's just been so good for him. But I just look at this, the dolphin side. Now, granted, the forward pack for Warriors is hectic, but you look at that full dolphin side, that full strength. So Plath, origin player now. Flegler, origin player. Gilbert, origin player.
Herbie Farnworth, origin level player. Selwyn Cobbo, origin player. Bostock would have played origin if he started. Like their whole back line, Hammer, Hammer. Their whole backline is an origin backline.
That's crazy. It looks like their attacks just kicked into gear this last four weeks too. You just didn't know what you were going to get. At the start of the year, you didn't know what you were going to get from the Dolphins. It was almost like they had too much emphasis on their attack and it probably wasn't giving them enough back.
Whereas the combination last night of Kurt Donahue and Katoa, they were just stripping the edges apart there at the Raiders.
Yeah.
And then you've got Katoa, the best young seven in the competition. Nicodemus will come back from injury. Then you look at their forward pack. Plath, Flegler, Gilbert, Morgan Smithies... Sorry, Morgan Knowles, who's definitely slowly getting better and one of the best Super League players there is, won all these premierships. You've got Kurt Donoghue that can barely make the fucking side, bro.

Chapter 6: How do the Dolphins' young players contribute to their success?
Schneider stepped up and did a great job. The strength he showed to score that try that he scored on guys like Kyle Weeks, he's the kind of guy that you would expect to do that to, and he does do that to other sides in terms of breaking tackles. He's so strong through contact. Just shrugged off a couple guys when the game was in the balance to score, so...
Yeah, I mean, if he's your depth guy, you're doing something right.
That's crazy, bro. It's absolutely crazy. And a guy like Katoa, look how good his career's been already against a team that's not making the eight. What's he going to look like when they hit their straps and they're a top four side? Think about how good he's going to play.
Yeah, and he's starting to really form nice combos with both back rollers there too. Yep. Fina Fubiaki put Lemu Lemu through at one point there to set up that try. So I could definitely see them doing it at the back end. It'll just be a matter of can they keep that forward pack and get the balance right when all those guys are available. Yep.
When Ray Stone's there, Max Plath is there, Donoghue's there, finding the balance of how you use those guys in and amongst people like your Fleglers and your Gilberts.
Yeah, I agree with you there. I think that's definitely... Watching that trial they had at the start of the year and the amount of blokes that were coming on for that second side, their depth is incredible. It's just about the way you use it.
It's hard to find who that starting pack is and who your definitive bench is going to be and making sure every player compliments each other because when their attack clicks... it's one of the best in the comp. It's just got to click every week. What about the Raymond Stone? Do you see the full name came up last night after he scored his try?
That was so funny. I didn't even realize. I assumed it was just Ray Stone. It was like Ray Stone. I don't want to come near Raymond, I'll tell you that.
No, no. Raymond's a different breed. Raymond. Whenever it's called Raymond, it's almost like his dad's getting angry at him or his mom's getting angry at him.

Chapter 7: What are the implications of the current NRL season on team strategies?
Now, I know some clubs, like... have it to a degree like, yeah, we've got the Eels all the way down to Sixers or whatever. But Redcliffe have been an established club all the way down to like under Sixers for like 50, 60 years. Like their pathways and development systems and like they are already there.
So their depth, like there is a real chance that they become a similar type of site like team to the Penrith Panthers when you consider the juniors they have. Like Redcliffe in that area and obviously Brisbane Water or Brisbane, like I know they're competing against the Broncos, but the juniors that they have access to are some of the best in the country.
And so like, if I can just, if I can just stay on the field, injury free, they are going to be an absolute problem to deal with. And I think at the start of the season, they probably they're a bit overly aggressive and played like dumb footy sometimes and kind of like got too caught up in being the kind of aggressive side.
I feel like they've really found the balance between aggression, but also smart footy. So yeah, like they're, they're just looking red hot dolphins. I love what I'm seeing. And if, As I said, if they can stay injury-free, it's actually four straight wins for the first time in the club's history as well.
Massive.
That's crazy. First few years. So, look, great win for the Raiders when you consider Herbie Farnworth was out as well. I just can't wait to see what we see over the next few years. It's going to be sick for the Dolphins and the clashes they'll have with the Broncos as well. It's going to be sick. Anything else in the Dolphins boys at Soletia?
Probably more so for me, probably just Bostock. I think he must have done a pretty good rehab program because I'll tell you what, he's come back and he left playing the wing. He's come back playing winger and centre as he did last night. And I thought he was outstanding defensively and in attack.
Man, I'll never forget his debut where there's all this hype around him and he's super athletic, but just the physicality of NRL, his body wasn't ready for it. He got driven back a lot. Now, don't get me wrong, he never took a backward step and he kept turning up tough as nails, but you could just tell that his body, because he's such a tall body, just wasn't ready for the physicality of Origen.
Far out. How much has that changed? He is a beast on the edge there. Strong, great under the high ball, great fend, great finisher.

Chapter 8: What predictions are made for upcoming matches and team performances?
Like, he scored a pretty definitive try in the context of the game, and we were sort of talking about who would you put on the wing for Origen at that point, and I was like...
it's one game but you know when you just sort of get a feel for like what a guy's doing like he'll play origin in the next well i reckon i reckon he was back a month earlier i reckon he might might have jagged that wing spot
You know, like, obviously, Kola's been killing it, but, you know, maybe they would have gone Critter and Bostock, or maybe they would have gone Kola and Bostock, you know? So he's a New South Welshman. Yeah? Yes, he is.
Yeah. Oh, jeez.
Central Coast?
That's rattled me. I think he's from South Coast.
Oh, Wollongong. I think he's from the Gong. Oh, the Gong, okay.
I think he's a Gong boy.
Gong boy, so, yeah. Garn, that's crazy. Like, their centre's going to be Herbie, Farnworth and fucking Bostock. That's hectic.
