If Matip’s leg injury proves serious that means Liverpool could be down to one fit recognised centre-back for Wednesday’s Champions League opener with Ajax after Van Dijk sustained a serious injury at the hands of Pickford in Saturday’s 2-2 Merseyside derby draw with Everton at Goodison Park. But some much-needed good news for Jurgen Klopp comes in the fact that goalkeeper Alisson is making good progress in his return from injury and could even be fit to face West Ham United at Anfield on Saturday, October 31.
