I'm Doug Krisner and we begin in Minnesota where a woman is dead after being shot by an ICE officer during an immigration operation in Minneapolis. Now, the Department of Homeland Security said the officer fired in self-defense as the woman tried to run down officers with her vehicle.
However, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Fry said video of the incident shows it was reckless and unnecessary. And at the same time, we heard from the police chief, Brian O'Hara. He said the woman was shot in the head. There is nothing to indicate that this woman was the target of any law enforcement investigation or activity.
This woman was in her car and it appears then blocking the street because of the presence of federal law enforcement, which is obviously something that has been happening, not just in Minneapolis. but around the country. That is Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara. At the same time, the Department of Homeland Security said the shooting is under investigation.
President Trump is moving to ban institutional investors from buying single-family homes in the U.S., This shows the president is attempting to address housing affordability ahead of this year's midterm elections. Now, Blackstone is a major investor in single-family homes in the U.S. Today, its shares were down 5.5%. Here is Meredith Whitney, the CEO and founder of Meredith Whitney Advisory.
Everyone also has to remember that one of Trump's bigger donors and advisors is Steve Schwarzman, one of the co-founders of Blackstone. On social media, President Trump said he would expand on his housing plan. at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, later this month. Also today, the president said he will not permit defense companies to issue dividends or to buy back stock. He cited excessive pay packages for executives, as well as unsatisfactory maintenance and delivery of military equipment.
