Description

Follow our new Youtube channel @bodybreathmindset https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDF2Yb2UH3BmpAK8ykZvuHA Resonant or coherent breathing is a specific breathing technique that involves breathing at a specific rhythm to achieve a state of balance and harmony in the body. It typically involves maintaining a breath rate of around six breaths per minute, or a cycle of five seconds for inhalation and five seconds for exhalation. This breathing pattern is believed to synchronize the heart rate, breathing rate, and other physiological processes, resulting in a state of coherence. The term "coherence" refers to a state in which the body's physiological systems are functioning harmoniously and in sync. This state is associated with increased heart rate variability (HRV), which is considered a marker of overall health and well-being. When practicing resonant or coherent breathing, the focus is often on slow, deep breaths that fully engage the diaphragm. It is typically done through the nose, with a gentle and smooth flow of breath. The goal is to create a steady and consistent rhythm of breathing, with equal duration for both the inhalation and exhalation phases. Research suggests that coherent breathing can have a positive impact on various aspects of health, including reducing stress, improving cardiovascular function, enhancing emotional well-being, and promoting cognitive function. It activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which helps to counterbalance the effects of the sympathetic nervous system (associated with the body's "fight-or-flight" response) and induce a state of relaxation and calm. Practicing resonant or coherent breathing regularly, particularly during periods of stress or as part of a mindfulness or meditation practice, can help individuals cultivate a sense of balance, improve self-regulation, and enhance overall well-being.
