Star Wars Jedi Apprentice 8 The Day of Reckoning by Jude Watson

The narrative culminates in a confrontation at the Sacred Pools where, after Den exposes Xanatos's deceit to the public, Xanatos is cornered and chooses to die in an acidic pool rather than face justice, allowing Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan to reconcile their bond.
