Chapter 1: What prank call did Gio make to Brandon Tierney?
We were just talking about last March when St. John's was eliminated and BT had told the story because he was on the broadcast about how he had gone out, had a couple of drinks to celebrate a tournament win with some St. John's staffers and how that was misinterpreted by listeners that BT was out late with the players partying and it was really annoying to him.
And I heard how annoying it was to him, so I ended up pranking him. Eddie's working on that. I was Frank in Bayside. Do you have the whole thing? So I was Frank in Bayside was the name that I used. Now that you know that it's me, you'll probably be able to hear that it's me. But just for clarification, when Jerry played it, nobody crossed their mind that it was me.
Chapter 2: What was the reaction to BT's story about celebrating St. John's win?
But now you'd be like, oh, I could definitely hear it. Because I remember listening to it and being like, oh, I sound too much like me or me or Joe or something. I was like, they're going to know. But you didn't. So here we go. This was last March. Fake phone call to BT and Sal about BT partying with the players after a win. Frank is in Bayside. What's up, Frank? Oh, I'm miserable today, Sal.
Chapter 3: How did Gio disguise his voice during the prank call?
I am miserable. I'm a longtime Johnny's fan, season ticket holder. It's pouring rain out. All I can think about is all the missed threes and the free throws and the missed layups. And I find out my buddy Dave, he texted me earlier, and he said, did you hear this guy, BT, was out drinking with the team after the Omaha win? And I'm like, what? So, like, BT, like, who do you think you are?
Like, going out and drinking with the team. Here's an idea. How about this? Why don't you come to my face? Why don't you come and ask me? Why don't you come and ask me? How about that? I will. I will turn his car around and I will. Where are you? Come and ask me. Where are you? Where are you, bro? All right, Sal, get rid of this guy. Thank you for the call, Frank. Okay, so...
Would you like to do this? Because I'm not going to keep doing this. No, I mean, you feel like you say whatever you feel like. I'm going to sit this one out for a sec. I don't need to vent. I need to clarify. I don't even care for me, by the way. So this is really one of the dumbest things we've ever talked about. It really is.
So I think that it has been hijacked a bit, and I can't control what people say. You can't. And if you try to, well, it's basically a waste of time. So, there's really nothing to add here. You know, the more I think about it, I've already done this twice. I really don't have much more to say. And I'm going to actually lay this one out. I'm good.
Chapter 4: What are the key challenges facing St. John's in the NCAA tournament?
I've said what I had to say. I feel... That's it. I know it's different, but I feel like, remember, I was getting blamed for the Mets and the NL East and all that stuff. Yeah. Now, maybe it's your turn. You're going to get blamed here a little bit for the Johnnies. Yeah. for something that was so innocent. I really didn't even think much of it.
I thought it was a positive thing that you were trying to bring up the other day. Celebratory win for you and for other fans, St. John's alum hanging out, not the players and whoever else that people might think that we're celebrating the win a little too hard. Yeah, and by the way, they were watching film.
when we walk like that's there's really nothing else and really I don't think it's the majority of people I think it was Dave and obviously that was a guy who said his friend Dave texted him Dave was the guy who called last week and then again today so it seems like there's only two people alright Yep. So there it was. I didn't hear. That did not really sound. I mean, I know you.
I mean, I thought you did a really good job of disguising your voice. Okay, good. I mean, because I think if those two guys, Sal would have caught it. Yeah, well, I think he did. You did? Later on. Yeah, I think he did. Oh, he did? Okay. Yeah. He had an inkling. That's great. And I think that was confirmed later on.
I felt bad for Brandon during that whole thing because wherever that came from, that he was hanging out with the players and drinking was insane. He finally, though, after he challenged me to a fight, why don't you come down here and say it in my face? After he did that, he finally got to where he needed to be, which was, I already addressed this. This is dumb.
I'm going to lay the rest of it out. That's where he needed to get to. And you got him there. In a way, I helped him out. Oh, that's great. That is great. I kind of do remember Jerry playing that last year. Yeah, because I think he played the previous guy, Dave's phone call, and then I pretended I was that guy Dave's friend who texted me, and then I called up.
So I think he played both of those, and it was just too funny. Just too funny. But there you go. Figured, why not dust that off a year later? Fuck you! Yeah, exactly. Yeah, so hopefully we're not talking about a second round exit this year with the Johnnies as things get started today. They'll play tomorrow. Of course, all the locals around here playing tomorrow.
And, you know, halftime Howie talking about the defense and all the things that St. John's brings to the table. You know, that's great. But, you know, there's always these... these pillars of things that teams need to do, and shooting threes, hitting free throws, getting rebounds, playing defenses, everything. The thing about it is if St.
John's is going to go to the Final Four, they're obviously going to have to beat Northern Iowa 5-12.

Chapter 5: How does the team plan to overcome their past tournament failures?
Most likely they'll then meet Kansas. And after that, most likely, they will meet Duke. Yeah, I mean, it stinks. I mean, that is unbelievable. And then if they beat Duke in the Sweet 16, then if UConn holds up its end of the bargain, because UConn's got to go through Furman. Furman. Furman, my buddy Stanford Jennings.
Then they would most likely have to go through UCLA, who plays UCF, so it could either be one of those two teams. Right. And then it would be Michigan State, most likely, or South Florida. Or Louisville. I mean, UConn, I have to say, you never know. You have to play all the games. But when you look at what St.
John's, after winning the regular season championship, the tournament championship, beating the crap out of UConn in the championship game, how they have to go through that group and how UConn has to go through this group. Listen, I don't know if it's a respect thing for UConn because they've won two national championships out of the last three years.
It shouldn't have anything to do with anything. And I know it's probably more a reflection of the Big East itself. But when I look at it and then I say, okay, let's say they end up having to play Duke. Let's say they beat Duke. They have to play Kansas, then Duke, and then UConn in the Elite Eight. And then when you get to the Final Four, it's going to be Arizona.
I mean, that is like, okay, guys, show us how good you are. You're going to play like four of the toughest teams in college basketball. Yeah, it would be an amazing run. It would make a run even more special because of what they have to deal with. But just the Sweet 16, get to the Sweet 16. I hope it's Kansas because I kind of want them to beat Kansas.
beat Kansas in that 4-5 matchup, get to the Sweet 16. You got that whole week to kind of celebrate and think about it and break down a potential Duke matchup. That's really what I'm looking for out of this season. That would be phenomenal, especially after last year, which was a really, really disappointing loss to Arkansas. in the second round where you felt like you were better than them.
And that's a Cal Parry team. Yeah, it was just that was frustrating. That game was annoying. You just knew how it was going, that it just wasn't going to happen for them. They couldn't score. So I just have that time to celebrate a sweet 16 would be great. Dude, I'm just telling you, if they get to the Elite Eight and it's a UConn-St. John's matchup again, That would be epic. It would be epic.
That would be epic. A lot of things are going to have to happen for that to come down that way, but somebody screwed St. John's. That's all I can say. Yeah. Listen, if they make it to the Elite Eight with a rematch with UConn, I'll go drink with the players. Let me ask you a question. I know that they have this whole committee thing. I think all this stuff is analytically driven.
A lot of it has to do with that. Yeah. I mean, it's all analytically driven. So the committee could say, hey, look, man, this is the analytics. This is what their wins are. This is who they played. This is who they lost to. I mean, when you lose to a team like the first 10 games of the season and then you finish like the last five games of the season.

Chapter 6: What strategies are crucial for St. John's success in the tournament?
Yeah. Wouldn't there be more weight put on the fact of the way that you finished as opposed to the way you started? Yeah. I mean, I would think so. And I know that they take into account injuries and things like that. That's something that is significant. But if that were the case, would Duke be at number one if they're missing two players?
