Kazzy and Mika will definitely be Ranger fans.
Those are Gunners kids. Oh, okay. So they are dyed-in-the-wool Ranger fans already, and I'm going to have to deal with the four, Winnie and Allie and Henny and, of course, Bear. They're all going to be Islander fans. Well, I feel sorry for Gunner's kids, but... You're going to be in an Islander family for the rest of your life. Well, time out now.
Because if they do well, let's say the Islanders do well over the next five or six years, and my son-in-law is a part of the front office, does that mean he has to move to Winnipeg to go run the Winnipeg Jets? Sidney will love that. Oh, God. Maybe go to Calgary, run the Calgary Flames. Oof. What would that reaction be like? Well, you have to take the job.
Chapter 2: How do Boomer's grandkids becoming Islanders fans affect him?
Of course you have to. Of course you have to take the job if that happens. What would her reaction be like to having to move to Winnipeg? They're going. Let's go. I know, but she's like Long Island. I know she is. Did she like her time in Toronto? She loved it. She did. She did. The first year there, they had a great time. They had a good team. That's when they drafted Mitchie Marner.
And they kind of took Mitch under their wing a little bit there. And then Matt went to bat for him with the coach – And it got kind of ugly. Got it. And then he got sat down for the last 50 games in Toronto. And then he came home that summer. And I'll never forget sitting there. And my phone's ringing. And I show him the name. And the name is Brendan Shanahan. Ha, ha, ha.

I said, I'm not his agent. So but you could tell Matt if if he wants to be traded, we will trade him wherever he wants to go.
including the rangers and i i advised matt at that point in time i don't know if he'll remember it this way but i said you don't need to be going with the rangers just yet because this is when david quinn took over the rangers as head coach and they were going through their rebuild this was after the first letter we received and at that point in time i was a little pissed off because i've only you know invested half a million dollars into ranger season tickets jesus
So, yeah, so I told him, I said, I think going back to the Islanders and reuniting with Cal and Casey would be great. And that's exactly what Lou, because that was the year Lou Lamarillo had left the Islander, I mean, the Maple Leafs, and came back to take over the Islanders. And then, hence, he went back to the Islanders, and it was a good move for him.
Why did the Leafs disrespect him like that, though? It was really the coach that he had the issue with. God, it's a famous coach. I can't think of his name again. Look up Toronto coach. He used to be Captain Canada coach. I think it was something to do with the way the coach was treating the young Mitch Marner.
It's got to be kid gloves with these kids that are 18 to 19 years of age that come in with all this hype. Oh, God, I forget his name. But anyway, he got into it with the coach about the way that Mitch was being treated. But Matt was a guy, when he was hanging him up, players on the opposing teams all wanted to shake his hand. Shake his hand, yeah. They stopped the show. Who was he talking?
This was what? Like 17, 18? Was this Babcock? Yes, yes, Coach Babcock. Okay. Yes. He was in Toronto? Yes. Nine years ago? Yeah. I remember that last season. It was the DNP, DNP. Yes, it was. And he didn't get along with the coach for whatever reason. And he might have been hurt, too, by the way, too. He might have had an injury.
But if you remember at Gunner's wedding in 2021, this is when the Islanders are playing the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 6 at the Nassau Coliseum. And I was getting all over Matt for not coming to Gunner's wedding. And, you know, you can miss a playoff game. You remember that whole thing?

Chapter 3: What is the debate between Freddy Peralta and Nolan McLean?

If you listed the Canadian hockey team and you saw that hockey team, you'd be like, how many guys on the American team would take that team? I understood. I see where you're going with this. But I know who Al's rooting for now. Al is rooting. I know he's a USA guy. Yes. Not for this. He is a Team Mexico guy without a doubt because his favorite major leaguer is on this roster.
And that would be who, Al? Alejandro Kirk. You got it. Of course, his name's Alejandro, but details. Alejandro, Alejandro, whatever. You just like to short portly, guys. I sure do. For baseball players, yeah. If you have a little meat on your bones, I like that. And I'll give you another one who you probably like but you don't know it. Rowdy Tellez. He is on this team as well.
What MLB team is he on? He's on the Rangers right now, I believe. So you've got a couple of major leaguers on that team, plus your favorite players. So that gets started on Friday. I know a lot of people aren't. I am looking forward to it. Evan is. By the way, Evan's doing a live podcast in Port St. Lucie Saturday. How about that? I'm a loser. Well, maybe, but that's kind of neat. 4 p.m.
on Saturday. Okay, you don't care. No, I don't care. You like Evan. I love Evan. The poor guy's walking around with a cane. I'm a loser. He's doing better. He's walking around. He's 42.
