Chapter 1: What impact did Troy Aikman have on Mike McDaniel's exit from the Dolphins?

0.031 - 17.721

Just to kind of underscore the point that even on Black Monday or the Tuesday after the NFL season, you never quite know. Because you had Mike McDaniel earlier in the week at the podium talking about how he was going to be in on the Dolphins GM interviews. Well, obviously that did not work out to be the case, as he did meet with Stephen Ross Tuesday to discuss the season.

0

17.741 - 35.749

And then Ross yesterday in his statement announcing the firing of McDaniel after careful evaluation and extensive discussions yesterday. Since the season ended, I have made the decision that our organization is in need of a comprehensive change, and thus, that's where the Dolphins are at. You think Troy Aikman got him fired? Can't rule it out, right?

0

35.769 - 39.474

I mean, Troy's right in the middle of all of it, right? Yeah, he's consulting. He is consulting.

0

Chapter 2: What changes are the Dolphins considering after the season?

39.494 - 51.456

So it's possible. It's not hard to consult and say, hey, let's get the band back together for the Ravens, and let's bring John Harbaugh down here and pay him $20 million a year, and let's roll. If that's what Troy's pitching, then it's nice to get paid.

0

51.496 - 66.392

Well, I don't know if he is or not, but the thing is that he is a consultant, and I'm just telling you right now, this guy, just like Jerry Jones, just like Bob Kraft, Woody Johnson would be in that mix. Unfortunately, John Mara's going through what he's going through right now. They all see that.

0

67.092 - 85.054

I mean, this is why they're like, they're not going to take it to the grave with them, so we've got to try to get this done while I'm still here. Yeah, and Steven Ross is someone who is just, he is not going, he will get what he wants. And more so than these other guys. He just will. And he's someone who's got a track record of that.

0

85.074 - 107.712

And I think you're going to see insanity, insanity with this contract with John Harbaugh and the Dolphins. And, you know, it's going to be control. A lot of control along with his own GM. And it's kind of like what Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch, you know, basically did out in San Francisco. Yeah. And you know what they don't have down in Florida, Boomer? State taxes. Yeah. C-Mac referenced that.

0

Chapter 3: What are the implications of a potential MLB work stoppage?

107.733 - 123.061

Oh, he did? Yeah, yesterday. We were talking about the Dolphins job. When I brought that up 15 years ago, everybody scoffed at me. I'm like, you guys, you have no idea. Especially now when you get to these numbers. Where these guys are getting to? Big numbers, yeah. It's huge. Of course it is.

0

Chapter 4: How does Rob Manfred envision MLB realignment in the future?

123.162 - 138.325

Yes. Some more fallout from the Harbaugh-Ravens situation. Todd Munkin and the Baltimore offense, certainly a component of it. Lamar Jackson, we talked about that angle yesterday. So Munkin goes on the Ryan Ripken show yesterday. That's Cal Ripken's son, who is a former big league player.

0

138.305 - 156.938

minor league player turned media guy, content creator, and I guess Munkin has some sort of connection with him. He did 43 minutes on his show yesterday. Wow. Todd Munkin did. And a big theme for the Ravens offensive coordinator looking back on this failed season in Baltimore, accountability from the players to the coaches to himself. You can't.

0

156.918 - 174.938

Get all the credit when we do well and just exonerate yourself from the blame when it doesn't go that way. That is so ridiculously out there that I can't even live in that world. I can't live in that world. I haven't gotten to where I'm at living in that world. I haven't.

0

174.958 - 188.476

It's interesting watching these highlights on CBS Sports Network where Lamar Jackson hits a wide-open Zay Flowers for an easy touchdown pass, and they fired the offensive coordinator. Well, they fired everybody. But the point being is that if the kicker makes the kick, they're all still there.

0

Chapter 5: What are the proposed changes for MLB divisions and travel schedules?

188.737 - 206.652

Yep. That's right. That's what it comes down to. Playoff game. Yep. In the very next breath for Munkin, took himself to task, at least on Lamar. You know what? I didn't coach Lamar well enough. I didn't have as good a relationship as I could have. I didn't do the things that we needed this year to win enough games to give ourselves a chance. And I believe that.

0

206.692 - 221.225

I'm not just saying that because I'm on your show, and I'm going to fight like hell to fix it. I'm going to fight like hell for the next job I get, and I'm going to root like hell for the Ravens. Unless, of course, he ends up with a job in the AFC North, and I don't think he'd be rooting for the Ravens. I have more on him. He's very interesting and very open and candid.

0

221.245 - 232.909

There was quite a bit of cursing that was going on back and forth to kind of underscore his points, which was interesting. He did back up and say, look, I didn't see any evidence of a divide or an issue between Harbaugh and Lamar. He didn't know where that came from.

0

232.889 - 243.14

The other thing, too, is that maybe Steve Bishotti wanted Harbaugh to fire a couple of his coaches, including Munkin, and to his credit, John Harbaugh said, no, I'm not firing anybody.

0

Chapter 6: How do potential salary caps affect MLB negotiations?

243.64 - 260.618

I want to keep my team together. I think they're all loyal to me, and I wouldn't be surprised that wherever John Harbaugh goes, I would think Todd Munkin would go with him. And they did ask him about that, if that was essentially a mandate that Harbaugh was given, and he said he didn't know anything about that. Of course. Right, exactly.

0

260.598 - 285.997

It's at the college game now, CFP semifinals, the Fiesta Bowl last night coming down to the wire. Ole Miss up three on Miami with time running out, but the Hurricanes in position deep inside the red zone. Three receivers, Bunch to the left. Beck is looking that way. And still looking, still looking. Takes off running. Carson Beck with his legs. Puts Miami on top. What a drive!

0

286.017 - 303.109

Chris Fowler, ESPN. The three-yard scramble score to put Miami ahead as they finished off a 31-27 victory over Ole Miss. So the Hurricanes will now get to play for the national championship in their home stadium 10 days from now. They will face the winner, of course, of tonight's Peach Bowl matchup between Oregon and top-ranked Indiana.

0

303.089 - 315.208

He did have Jackson Dart at the game on the Ole Miss sideline supporting his alma mater there. And there were amateur lip readers out there as he was talking to an Ole Miss assistant who allegedly asked him who's going to be the next head coach talking Giants.

0

Chapter 7: What was discussed regarding the future of the Ravens' coaching staff?

315.769 - 333.614

And the lip readers say that Dart's response was, I don't know, Harbaugh or Stefanski, but I don't know. Yeah, I mean, it's clear as day. That's what he said. MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred in studio with the afternoon show here on The Fan yesterday. Craig and C-Mac, a lot to get to from that, but a little sampling to get us started here.

0

333.974 - 351.737

Of course, the potential 2027 work stoppage aside, here's part of what we're potentially looking at down the road as part of the next CBA negotiation between the owners and the players. I would like to expand. I think 32 would be good for us. Fundamentally, it's just a lot of cities like to have major league baseball.

0

351.757 - 370.575

When people want your product, you ought to try to find a way to sell it to them. It's kind of basic. So now we've heard a bit about this next part already, but Manfred reiterating this vision for 32 teams and kind of similar to what we see from the NFL. You would realign. You would do it along geographic lines, which would alleviate, could alleviate a ton.

0

370.555 - 384.677

ton of the travel burden that's on players. And you're talking like eight divisions of four, similar to the NFL setup. And with that in mind, we've seen some potential realignment division proposals, a few of which included the Mets and the Yankees being in the same division.

0

384.838 - 391.809

Did they ask him about whether or not they would just blow up the National League and American League and just make it one big league? I haven't sifted through all of it yet. East and west?

Chapter 8: What insights did Rob Manfred share about the future of MLB?

391.949 - 411.059

But yeah, I think it sounds like it's going to be more of an east-west situation. So no more American League, National League? We don't know yet. It's not for sure, but at least as far as the two teams in the same market situation goes, Manfred on his take with that whole thing. I think if you did it, you'd probably be eight fours, right?

0

411.499 - 431.475

And I think you would try to keep the two team cities separate. Oh, okay. Got it. So they would not be in the same division. That would be my thinking. Now a lot of water got to go over that dam. Obviously, the player side plays into all of this. Obviously, they were talking potential salary cap or salary floor.

0

432.297 - 450.132

So there's a lot of angles and aspects to all of this that have got to be shaken out over the course of the next year or so. Again, our lockout is because the owners are unhappy, not because the players are unhappy. Yeah, but if they're trying to get their players to come to their side on certain issues, so that's where there's concern for the 2020 season. Right, and that's his background.

0

450.172 - 472.08

That's where he came from. He's a labor lawyer, so he knows all the nuances that go into these CBAs and what they're trying to accomplish from an ownership standpoint. And I think... I would imagine there are plenty of owners in his ear saying there's no way we can compete with the Dodgers, the Yankees, the Mets, the Phillies, the Cubs. We just can't compete financially.

0

472.12 - 488.624

And what are we doing here? We're just like doormats. Now, there are a couple of other things from yesterday that I will get to later because I want to tee them up properly. Number one being Evan pre-recorded a question that he wanted asked to Manfred, which apparently Pete Hoffman put the kibosh on. Oh, he screwed that up again?

488.664 - 506.088

Yeah, so he's now in Evan's crosshairs and Craig's crosshairs from earlier in the week with the first show and not playing the open correctly. Wait, when you say Hoffman put the kibosh on it, meaning that he... He told Craig that the wording of Evan's question was not appropriate, and thus it wasn't going to be aired.

506.148 - 522.805

Now, maybe Craig is putting words in Hoff's mouth, but that's how it was positioned on the air when Commissioner Manfred was here. So we'll bring that to you. And then Craig also addressed the golf challenge, of course, that you guys extended to him. Yes. Which he's on board with. All of a sudden he's on board with it. I shamed him the other day.

522.785 - 540.574

We talked a little bit off the air, Craig and I. Oh, okay. Yeah, because I wanted to see if he was serious about not playing. And he's normally serious about playing. Oh, well, if you guys talked off the air, he had some strong words on the air. So I can bring that your way. Naturally. I understand.

540.554 - 565.465

That's why Hoffman put out on X yesterday that he'll be the only person to be fired from two different jobs in the same month, I think. Do we have Evan's question? Yeah, I can see here. It's in one of these folders. Here you go. All right. So this was a question Evan recorded that he wanted them to play for Manfred when he was here yesterday. Mr. Commissioner.
