Chapter 1: What prompted Giannis to request a trade from the Bucks?
So things getting more interesting with Giannis yesterday as Shams posts on X and writes an article about how he officially requested a trade and now the Milwaukee Bucks know that he is not going to be a part of their future either at the trade deadline this year or in the offseason after the season.
And you would wonder, you know, why would you wait till the end of the season if he's causing this much trouble? Well, The NBA, which is very complicated. I'm not going to get into the weeds about it. But once the season ends, there's more picks that can be traded. There's these rules about odd picks, odd year picks, and even year picks.
It's just a whole mess. That's why there has to be a third team involved. You're not going to be going.
Chapter 2: Why is the timing of Giannis's trade request significant?
I think there's got to be four teams involved.
Yeah, maybe. Three or four teams. But you can't do it straight up. It's just impossible. Yeah, so you've got to make the money work. You've got to make the certain picks work. And I think Mikael Bridges isn't eligible to be traded until February 1st, by the way.
Well, okay. Whatever that rule is.
Well, yeah, but the deadline is February 5th. I know, but what I'm saying, if they wanted to make the trade today, they couldn't. If you were involved in the trade.
I mean, we're like three days away from being able to make it. But yeah. So, I mean, they would figure out a way to get Mikael Bridges in the deal, which I think he'd have to be. So, I'm doing as much reading as I can on this particular thing. And I think the Golden State Warriors, as many people have reported, are in prime position to make that trade. However...
Giannis has talked about only wanting to go to New York.

Chapter 3: How can the Knicks potentially acquire Giannis?
So if he only wants to go to New York, first off, the Knicks are going to have to want him and make this trade. So that's one thing we don't know. We assume that Leon Rose and Mike Brown and everybody over there and Jim Dolan would want to take Giannis and have him on the team. But I don't know that for a fact, especially if they believe in Carl Anthony Towns more than we do.
But let's just, for argument's sake, say that they do want Giannis. So one of the teams that I think would have to be involved with picks and the way that they had a trade with the Bucs earlier too and everything else would be the Portland Trailblazers. So then you have the Trailblazers, the Knicks, the Bucs, and maybe another team
But the thing that I read that I think makes the most sense, and if they could somehow pull this off, where they would only have to trade, and it's only, but still, you're getting Giannis. You would only have to part with Cat, which you knew had to be gone anyway, Mikael Bridges, and Deuce McBride. If you can make a deal where you get Giannis and then somebody back. Drew Holiday. Yeah.
You have to have somebody to replace Bridges. Exactly.
Chapter 4: What role do other teams play in a potential Giannis trade?
I know. You need another wing guy. I saw somebody put out there, Jeremy Grant, who could replace that. He's got a big contract. He's a disappointing player, but whatever. So anyway, if you could do that, would you be happy with that?
So let's just say that on the surface, there's so many different moving parts, but for the audience to be able to digest, if you got Giannis and then someone to replace Bridges that was competent and could play and only had to give up Cat, Mikael Bridges, and Deuce McBride, you're making that trade because that team is a better team than what you have right now.
So that means Tyler Kolek would end up getting more playing time.
Yes. How about if it were Tyler Kolek as opposed to Bridges? No, it's not going to happen. And not Bridges. McBride. No.
No.

Chapter 5: What are the implications of trading key players for Giannis?
You don't think so? No, it wouldn't happen. No. Deuce McBride is a very tradable asset. Teams were going to want him. He's someone who's under contract. He's got a lot of talent.
I mean, yeah. I don't think they're winning a championship. Just watching Carl Anthony Towns. I'm with you. You've convinced me. Okay. Okay. I think they're a good team. I think... If they play like they played these last four games, especially the Philadelphia game and Toronto game, maybe they can make it to a championship. Maybe they can get through Cleveland.
Maybe they can get through Detroit. I don't know about Boston and what their situation is and whether or not they think they're going to get Tatum back for the playoffs. That's a potential possibility. Again, Just watching it last night, especially the second half last night, it was pretty impressive.
When they're rolling and they're rolling like they're rolling right now, it's pretty damn impressive.
Yeah, I just think that they at some point run into a roadblock with Carl Anthony Towns.
If we get into another playoff series where he's falling down, taking stupid penalties or fouls and laying on the ground, That's going to drive us all crazy.
Yeah, well, of course, and that's what I think we're going to get. Now, I guess the best-case scenario would be if you're someone who wants Giannis but are not totally sure is that you end up getting him in the offseason after another disappointing playoff performance.
I would be careful for Giannis for what he wishes for.

Chapter 6: How does Giannis's preference for New York impact trade negotiations?
And this is strictly ā I know he loves New York. I don't know. Somebody says he might have a house in the Hamptons or whatever, and it would be great for him, and it would be great for the team and all of that other stuff. I mean, if you take one listen to what Mayor Mondami was talking about yesterday and about raising taxes for people like him ā
Now, I don't necessarily know that a lot of Knick players live in the city just for that reason alone. Maybe they live up towards Tarrytown up by their practice facility because it's outside the five boroughs. So maybe they would not get pinched. Okay. But I'm thinking somehow, some way, New York is pinching their game checks because they're playing at Madison Square Garden. I don't know.
So who knows? But whether it be California or New York, I'd be very, very reticent as a player to come to one of these two places just simply because of that. I'd be trying to get myself to Miami.
Yeah.
I know Miami's in on this, too.
Yes, but we've heard so long, though, that Giannis wants New York. That is the one. So if he forces himself there, he says, this is the only team I'm going to, it's going to be very, very tricky to get it done. But I guess...
If we could watch how it plays out with this group this year and then know you can make that deal at the end of the year to get Giannis to try something different because it didn't work again, that's probably the thing that I would sign up for as opposed to trading for him now. And here's the other thing, too.
It just reminds me of when we were talking about Kevin Durant to the Knicks prior to him going to the Nets and then him blowing out his Achilles in the ā in the finals, and then we're like, okay, well, the Knicks aren't going to do that now, and the Nets did, and they paid them not to play, and everything else we've talked about. If Giannis is really dealing with multiple calf injuries...
Wouldn't that be, like, red flag? But honestly, that would be worse than if the Knicks had drafted Zion Williamson. Like, to finally then make another big deal to bring in this MVP and be like, okay, this is the guy we're going to go win a championship with, and then bang, his Achilles goes like everybody else? It'd be horrible.

Chapter 7: What are the risks of acquiring Giannis given his injury history?
Well, who knows how bad these calf injuries really are.
You think he's faking them?
No, I'm not saying he's faking them, but I'm just saying... that any sort of tweak right now, it's kind of like the Rangers not putting Artemi Panarin back out on the ice.
I know they have a commodity that they want to trade, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's traded in the next couple days here simply because Carson Soucy had the same thing happen to him on Monday night, did not play against Boston roster management, that's what it was called, and then got traded to the Islanders. So who knows? Artemi Panarin could be going any day now.
And I would say that, you know, Whoever acquires him, now this is a little bit different because he's at the end of his contract and he'll be a free agent after that. Whoever acquires Giannis, he's got, what, two more years left on his contract? Yeah, you're going to have to extend him, yeah. Well, that's the way it works.
I mean, if the team plays like it did last night in Philadelphia, and Carl Anthony Towns does what he does, and the ball moves the way it is, and obviously we know what kind of league it is. Make or miss.
And he missed a lot of shots last night, Carl Anthony Towns.
I know, but he had 22 rebounds.
Yeah. I just, you either believe he could do it or you don't. And you just told me you don't believe they can win a championship with him.

Chapter 8: How might the Knicks' current roster change with Giannis on the team?
If they were not interested, somebody, Mike Brown or, I don't know, Steve Stout, if he still is around.
I don't think so, but I don't know.
Whatever. One of these people would come out and say, we're not interested. We like our team. We think our team's great. Now, they may say that after the trade deadline if they don't make a move. Right. We always love this group here. We don't want to go down this road with anybody. We love our team, and we love our guys.
Then an NBA insider will come in and be like, oh, the Knicks offered this, and Towns was in the deal, but the Bucs didn't like it or whoever didn't like it.
And I will tell you, even, again, just to go back to what's going on with the Rangers, the same thing's going on with the Knicks. Guys know what's happening. They know that their names are out there. Rumors are out there. They know what Shams is saying. They know that Giannis has gone NBA psycho. They know that there's an opportunity there.
Yeah, so, I mean, there are other teams that just make so much more sense from a compatibility trade standpoint. But Giannis could say, I only want the Knicks.
You know, it's interesting. When you compare this situation with Giannis... And the situation that Dallas had with, what's his name? Luka. Luka. You think about that. Two different, totally different situations. Because they did not put Luka up for bid. No.
They didn't do that because they knew if they did that, the Maverick fan, which the Maverick fan obviously reacted the way they did after the trade. The Maverick fan would have went nuts. But it also would have put Luka on notice. And maybe that he could have changed his ways there if he would have found out that they were going. Yeah, because he didn't want to leave. He didn't want to leave.
Yeah. And we all know the reason why. I don't want to go down that road again. And you look at him this year, he looks like a completely different human being.
