Chapter 1: What impact does Sean McVay have on coaching opportunities for his assistants?
Sean McVay back in the championship game. Of course, all of his assistants getting interviews for jobs, as you've seen many of them go other places. Kevin O'Connell, Brandon Staley are two of the ones that pop right off the top of my head. And then, of course, you had Mike LaFleur, who was here as the Jets offensive coordinator. Now he's there as the Rams offensive coordinator.
Chapter 2: Which assistants from McVay's coaching staff are getting job interviews?
But I'm seeing the passing game coordinator, Nate Sheilhaus, getting more interviews than Mike LaFleur is getting. And then his defensive coordinator, Chris Shula, is getting a ton of interviews as well. And you want to talk about building your own tree. Sean McVay is certainly doing that.
Yes, he is. And I would think that Chris Shula and Clint Kubiak, the offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks, I feel like both of those guys are going to get jobs. I really do. I hope that they both end up in places where they don't have to go through a rebuild. The Arizona job is radioactive. I don't know how anybody takes that job unless they give him a six-year deal.
You remember how Matt Rule got that huge deal from the Carolina Panthers to go there? Yeah, that's right. I mean, that's the kind of situation that Arizona is in right now. And think about who is in their division. They've got Seattle, San Francisco, and the Rams.
And when you take that job, you know that that's going to be at least two years of losing, especially if you don't have a quarterback that you believe in. And I would think that they're going to probably move on from Kyler Murray. I don't know, but it sounds like it.
Maybe whoever the new coach is wants Kyler Murray in there just simply because he's a veteran presence and at least he can make plays with his legs. But I would think that those two coordinators are definitely going to get jobs. I also kind of feel like maybe Mike McCarthy is going to get a job. Where's that going to be, though? Let me ask you this question. Yeah?
And, again, it's just a question. Would Mike McCarthy take the Pittsburgh Steeler job, and would Aaron Rodgers come back one more year and put those two together in Pittsburgh?
I mean, Mike McCarthy would, wherever he is, walk to Pittsburgh and take that job. He's a Pittsburgh guy. He would love to have that opportunity to coach that team.
It goes against everything that the Roonies would do.
Well, this is what I'm saying, though. I don't really remember the last time Aaron Rodgers talked about Mike McCarthy and if it was positive or not, but no, I don't believe.

Chapter 3: What challenges do new coaches face when taking the Arizona job?
Other than that. Brian Flores going to the Raiders. That's what you have. I got Sala going to the Raiders. I got Flores going to the Cardinals. We both have Halfley going to the Dolphins. Yep. So we might have nailed three of them there. And then the Browns, I don't know. We kind of just threw names at the Browns. Did I throw Jim Schwartz there that they would keep him?
You've got Mike McCarthy going to the Browns, and I've got Mike McDaniel going to the Browns.
I don't think Mike McDaniel is going to get a job this go-around. He'll get an offensive coordinator job. Oh, yeah. I mean, I don't think he'll get a head job. I think that, you know, and again, what's interesting is what you want and what owners are looking for, number one, is they want a man that they believe exudes leadership.
They always think when they hire a guy that that guy exudes leadership. So I don't necessarily know that Mike McDaniel is one of the smarter guys in the NFL. I'm not going to take anything away from him in that regard. I just don't know if he exudes leadership when he steps into the room. You know, and the answer is no. I mean, you're being nice about it, but he doesn't.
But he may be different than what my perception of him is. I've never met him.
I saw him on Hard Knocks. When they did the in-season Hard Knocks with the Dolphins, it was definitely better than what he is in front of the microphone. He's talking to the media. But at the same time, they were winning that year, and everybody was buying in.
And then when they started losing, and then they started losing faith in him, and then you heard about all the stuff about people skipping meetings and everything else and not taking him seriously. I mean, it's real easy to believe in a guy when you're winning. It's just when you hit that adversity that you still have respect for him and it didn't feel like the Dolphins did.
The other interesting guy that I haven't seen that he has gotten an interview or anything is Matt Burke, the defense coordinator for the Houston Texans, who was the game management coach with Rob Sullivan when he first got here.
Yeah. Well, I mean, I brought his name up last week and said, I mean, the Texans have the best defense in football. How come this guy doesn't get any looks? And I guess maybe that's because D'Amico Ryans gets all the credit. I don't know.

Chapter 4: Could Mike McCarthy consider the Pittsburgh Steelers job?
And then a team that... What about Jesse Minter? He's going to go to the Ravens. You think the Ravens are going to get him, okay? That's what I think. I think the Ravens are going to get Jesse Minter. And he's definitely going to get a job. The people love that guy.
Well, I mean, if he's going to get a job, they better hire him soon. Yeah, I mean, you're going to see a ton this week. You would like to think you're going to see a ton this week because a number of these teams have done at least 10 interviews. Yeah. Browns being one, the Dolphins being another, the Ravens have done a ton.
I think of the Browns and the Cardinals, and I know it's one of 32, and it's a great job, and it pays a lot of money. man, but you want to take a job where you can have success like what Ben Johnson did, what Mike Rabel did.
Yeah, I mean, basically you'd be taking that job because no other team is offering you a job, and you get a guaranteed contract for probably five years and millions of dollars, and you're going to get paid that money no matter what. I mean, that's basically why you get one of those jobs, and you think, hey, hell, if I end up ā If I end up doing well here, this will be the greatest thing ever.
And if I fail, I'll get a coordinator job again, and I'll get paid guaranteed money for five years and a head coach salary. That's why you take the job. I mean, if you're someone who is like a young coordinator who thinks that they're probably not going to maybe get another opportunity, strike while the iron's hot.
