Chapter 1: What are the highlights from the World Baseball Classic?
WBC in the books. Opening day seven days away for the Yankees. Opening day at Citi Field. The Thursday after that, eight days away. And we opened up talking about the criticism around Aaron Judge once again in a big game, not coming up with a big hit. Bryce Harper really the only one that did anything last night with the game tying home run. Also had another hit in the game.
But there was no winning for Aaron Judge if He ended up hitting a big home run.
Chapter 2: How are Yankees fans reacting to Aaron Judge's performance?
You know, Yankee fans would say he never does that for us in the playoffs. And if he goes 0-4 like he did last night and strikes out, it's like this guy can't hit in any pressurized situations. I know he was better in the postseason last year, but this is ā I do believe it is fair to criticize ā
the best hitter in baseball in a game like this, you know, against a starting pitcher that had an over five ERA in the big leagues last year, who was a lefty, that he couldn't make something happen at some point in that game last night. Yeah, frustrating for sure. I'm frustrated throughout the whole ā
World Baseball Classic, with the exception of his home run that he hit like it was first at bat. Yeah. Which everybody thought this was going to lead the Americans to scoring 10 runs a game, much like the Dominicans were doing, until they ran into the Americans and couldn't come up with the key hit. But look, he's a great player, man.
He's a great representative of the Yankees, great representative of New York and America. And it's unfortunate it didn't happen for him. I know he was disgusted last night. And hopefully he comes back and he has another MVP-type season for the Yankees. That's all I can say.
Regarding the Yankees, the thing that would worry me at the beginning of this year anyway is going to be their initial rotation going into the season because Garrett Cole and Rodon are not going to be ready until May or June. And they're going to take it really, really carefully with those guys.
So the interesting thing for me will be what kind of start do they get off given the fact that, you know, It's a little bit in shambles right now, but I think Cam Schlittler will be a guy that's going to be heavily counted on. And they probably should be able to get through the first couple months of the regular season with a reasonable record.
And then when they get back those arms that are going to be important for them, I think that the second half of the season will be much better. Yeah, I don't really get all that concerned about it because I know the Yankees are going to be fine. I don't think that you're going to hit May and the Yankees be buried in the standings. I mean, they'll be able to get through it.
Obviously, Max Fried and Cam Schlittler at the top of that rotation is a boon for them if those guys meet their expectations. And sometimes it's... It's good if they remain healthy if a pitcher doesn't pitch off an injury a full season.
I mean, if you're going to have Garrett Cole not pitch, have him not pitch in April and May and then have all the opportunity to ramp up because they're going to go to the playoffs again. They always do. Unless something catastrophic happens, this team always makes the playoffs.

Chapter 3: What criticisms are being made about Aaron Judge's hitting in pressure situations?
They'll go back in the mix. It'll be the same conversation again, but you know they're going to be there. So I was just looking up the odds, the World Series odds. Most people who follow baseball understand that the Dodgers are going to be the favorite. The Yankees are the second favorite.
And in explaining who the Yankees are at plus 1,000, 10-1, slight lengthening from an earlier plus 950, they're a team that if they get back those two starting pitchers, and they return to something that they once were, I think these odds are going to go the other way.
Yeah, but the problem is that still if the Dodgers or the Dodgers are going to run into them, and the reason why the Yankees are two on that list is because they have an easier path to the World Series than anybody would have in the National League other than the Dodgers. Let me ask you this, Mr. Sports Guy. I mean, am I really Mr. Sports Guy? Yeah, you are Mr. Sports Guy. You know your sports.
Come on. Yeah, but I'm not Mr. Sports Guy. You live on that FanDuel app. I mean, I love the FanDuel app. I don't live in it, but yeah, I love it. Yeah, how'd you do on your golf? I did great, actually. I came in that one tournament that only 100 people are in. I came in 10th and won $250. Oh, there you go. It was nice. How much did you win on your golf trip, by the way? $500. Ooh, nice.
Yeah, it was nice. B&G winners this weekend. Yeah, big winners, man. Big, big winners. 4-0 in matches, 11 out of 12 points. Well, I was 2-2 in matches, but... My team won. We can't all be that great. I understand. Exactly. Especially when you play like you. You know what? I hadn't really played since we played in December. Yeah. First round, great. Nobody really cares. Second round, okay.
Third round, okay. Fourth round blew up completely. Really? Wow. It's a lot of golf. It's a short amount of time. It brought 90 degrees into the ocean. So anyway, sports guy. So you know the Dodgers and the Yankees are one and two. So who's three, four, and five? Oh, the Mets are definitely going to be in there.

Chapter 4: What challenges does the Yankees' starting rotation face this season?
There are four. The Phillies are going to be in there. There are five. Who's number three? You're not going to get this one, I don't think. Really? Yeah. You think it's easy, but it's not. You think it's easy, but it's not. They were a good team last year. Tigers? Nope. They were a good team last year.
Chapter 5: How will the Yankees manage their pitching staff early in the season?
You know... We have a colleague who was a part of our station who did work for them at one point in time. I don't know. Just tell me. I don't know. The Seattle Mariners. That's right. Well, yeah, of course. Should have known that one. Then it goes the Mets. The Mets are fourth. Phillies, Red Sox, Jays, Braves, Astros. All right. All right. I mean, listen, your boys, the Dodgers, are just low.
God, do not call them my boys. Yeah, I mean, this is what's going to happen is the Dodgers are going to go out and win another World Series and won't be particularly close, and then there's going to be a lockout because the Dodgers do things that not everybody can do. then they're going to have to try to change that system.
I would have to say the Dodgers and the Mets are the two teams that were given $765 million to Juan Soto and then given that $700 million deferred contract, plus on top of that the contract they just gave to Kyle Tucker. this is what's driving the Tampa Bay Ray ownership crazy.
This is what's driving all the small market team owners crazy, and this is why they're going to force a lockout because of the problems that the owners have with each other, and the players are going to have to acquiesce to something. I just don't know what it's going to be. So other than the Dodgers and Mets are second best odds to get to the World Series in the National League?
In the National League, yes. Okay. Yeah. And that means I wonder if they were in the American League, would they be ahead of the Yankees? That's what I'd love to know. But we're not going to know that because they're not in the American League. That's true. But the over-under win totals is also something you can look at when it comes to it. I believe the Dodgers are over 100.
I think they're 103 or whatever it is. And then both the Mets and the Yankees are over 90. I remember last year in the middle of the season, the Dodgers kind of hit the skids a little bit. Yeah, but... And they won the World Series barely. It wasn't like they went in there and swept the Toronto Blue Jays. Toronto had them. No, I know. The Blue Jays played absolutely great.
They were awesome and still lost. I mean, that would have been great to see the Blue Jays pull that off, and it would have made you feel better about baseball. But regardless of how entertaining it was and how close it was and Game 7 being epic, in the end, the Dodgers still won. I mean, whether you beat the Yankees in 5 the previous year or the Blue Jays in 7 the next year,
I mean, people are just going to remember their dominance and the fact that they're paying guys way more than everybody else is. So interesting. So you get the Yankees, Mariners, and Red Sox ahead of the Blue Jays. Yeah. Well, you know, lost some guys. Yeah. You didn't get that World Series hangover. That happens. Tough to get back. Then why is it so easy to get back for the Dodgers?
Well, they got the best team by a mile. But you can't say that because the Dodgers have won back-to-back World Series. Well, yeah, but they're so much better than everybody else. Yeah, but how come they don't have a hangover? Because they're so much better than everybody else. And even if they do have a hangover, there'll be somebody else who'll come in who doesn't have a hangover.
