Chapter 1: What were the highlights from Venezuela's victory over Team USA?
We hear from Mike Farron on SiriusXM MLB Network Radio with these two clips. We've got a tie game last night. I don't have it on XM. Nobody can find it. Yeah, that's just true. Dog. How are you putting this thing on serious? Anybody even have that anymore? People get their cars, they get them for two months for free, and then they never renew.
And then what they try to do is they try to tell you $16 a month, and you say, I don't want it, then they'll give it away for 16 cents. What a terrible business model. It's worked out well for him. I'm sorry, I don't listen to Sirius. It's worked out well for like four people over there. That's about it.
Anyhow, you had a home run from Bryce Harper in the eighth inning to tie this game 2-2, which was, I mean, all the offense the U.S. had essentially. And then in the ninth, Eugenio Suarez. Things have turned in the last 15 minutes. It's a 2-2 game in the top of the ninth. Sanoa from second. The pitch. Suarez in the air. Left center field. Throw arm strike on the run. He can't get there.
It's a base hit. Sanoa will score. Suarez to second. Venezuela leads 3-2. 3-2 at that point. Go to the bottom of the ninth. Not much doing for the U.S. as Daniel Palencia looked to close it out. The wrist LEDs that everybody in the crowd were handed are flashing right now. 1-2 the count. Two outs. 3-2 Venezuela. U.S. batting last of the ninth. Palencia set. The 1-2 pitch. Swing and a miss!
Venezuela wins the WBC! Again, that call on Sirius XM MLB Network Radio with Mike Farron. 3-2, the final score. So the Venezuelans celebrate. Exciting. Some are crying. All good. Here is Suarez, who was the hero with that RBI double to put them in front. He was on Fox with Ken Rosenthal. He was asked the direct question, what does this mean for your country? I mean, what can I say about this?
It's amazing. God is good. All the glory is for Lord Jesus. He was with us the whole time. So, yeah. I would have swore Jesus was with us going into that case. I mean, that's a bummer. I got to put in a complaint. That hurts. That really hurts. So I mentioned Harper was two for four with the game tying home run. The rest of the U.S. team, a whopping one for 26 with 10 strikeouts.
And you had Aaron Judge and Kyle Schwarber go a combined 0 for 7, striking out six times. Here was the U.S. manager, Mark DeRosa. We came up short to a great team. Special group to be a part of. Proud of the way we represented USA. Soft spot in my place for Venezuela as well. I played there in winter ball. Know a lot of guys from there. And Omar's a great man, the manager over there.
So, yeah, just a great game. Great game that they come up short. Does Mark DeRosa know that it's over now? So that was the big joke on social media. That DeRosa told the guys, make sure you're ready for tomorrow. Here he was one more time. Do you want to do this again, manage this group? It would be 100% yes to do it again. I'd love to get over the finish line.
Not only is it two times, but 3-2 both times. That's the final score with Otani striking out Mike Trout last time as the final out. Here was Derek Jeter on Fox. He was there with David Ortiz and A-Rod and, of course, Kevin Burkhardt. He says give the other team a lot of credit here. Yeah, I think, you know, people are going to say what happened to the U.S.

Chapter 2: What does Derek Jeter say about Venezuela's championship win?
Here was more of these two. Look out, JB. You know he's going to give it to his roommate after this proliferation. There's no doubt about it, Clyde. Topping his third foul. Yeah, he's going to get Brunson good tonight. You know what they're thinking. Yeah. Here was Hart on MSG. So he was 12 of 13 from the floor for 33 points, 5 of 5 from 3. He had 7 rebounds. 5 from 5 for 3. That's amazing.
Alan Hahn asking him, so where'd that come from? How about that game? When did you know you were going to have this kind of night? When I knew Jayla wasn't playing, so he wasn't going to hog the ball. So I know they'll get some shots up. Wow. I mean, it's amazing. When they're winning, they're fun. They're fun to hear that kind of stuff. But Joe, they took 100 shots last night.
They had 100 attempts. A lot of shots. It's unbelievable. A lot of shots. Here was Carl Anthony Towns, solid all around because he had a double-double, 22-11, and OG Ananobi was 10-13 for 26 points. You know what I loved about our team today? It was really great, you know, just seeing that kind of a... Togetherness, us coming together, and the ball movement was spectacular.
This is their franchise record 14 straight loss. Yeah. I mean, they are. They beat them last time, though. They did, which was terrible. I remember coming in that next morning. We were disgusted. Yeah. Didn't make a whole lot of sense, that's for sure. Nets home for the Thunder tonight. That's on the fan at 7.30. The two games, the playing games real quick. Howard beat UMBC 86-83.
Howard plays Michigan next. And Texas got a late basket from Tremont Mark to beat NC State 68-66. They will play BYU next. Tonight you've got Prairie View and Lehigh. Those are two 16 seeds. And then the two 11s tonight. SMU taking on 31-1 Lehigh. Miami of Ohio. I got a weird one. This one to me doesn't make any sense. Let's see if I put it in the system. I did. So you got St.
John's playing Northern Iowa this week, and Mike's doing his podcast. I don't know if he lost his mind momentarily here or not. He's talking about Zuby Echefor. And what a great player he's been for St. John's for the last three years. And he's referencing why he left Kansas three years ago. Not 13 years ago. Three years ago. Remember, he left Kansas, but that's a long time ago.
And he left Kansas because of Embiid. And Embiid's a different player than Zuby. I mean, Embiid, when he's healthy, is a guy who can score 50 points in the NBA. He's a big-time talent. That's no big deal that Embiid was over him. I mean, that happens. I don't understand. What does that mean? I don't know. I think he got, clearly he got confused. I'm trying to think of who he's talking about.
So I went, I looked at the roster. Yeah. I can't. That 2022-23 Kansas roster, I don't know exactly. Clearly, there's someone that was playing at him. He was a freshman. Makes sense. He left because of Embiid. But, yeah, someone, somehow, someway, he got very confused there, which was very odd. And, of course, it was everywhere. And people forget that Zuby was there with Oscar Robertson.
And the two of them, you know, they didn't get along. And one of them had to leave. It was sort of like, you know, is it you, is it me? And the big O stayed. And that's how Zuby got here. That's a long time ago. Three years ago. I mean, and, you know, we didn't know if Zuby was going to get drafted into the war. He didn't. He was able to play. So, yeah, just a long time ago. Forget about it.
