Will Aaron Judge Speak Out More?

17 Feb 2026

Transcription

Chapter 1: What insights does Aaron Judge share about his morning routine?

0.031 - 20.655 Gio

They love doing these things on the team's social media where I actually think it's a good idea where they'll show up and there'll be a question on a board as they're coming in. They'll have to answer it and everybody gives a different answer. But the one that they did with the Yankees this morning as they're all showing up was how many alarms did you have to set to get here in the morning?

0

20.635 - 37.254 Gio

And if I were, which is not all that interesting, but if I were someone who was like a rookie and I had to set like 10 alarms or I hit the snooze a million times, I would 100% lie in that spot. Yeah, none. Couldn't wait to get here. Are you kidding me? I was up. I've been up already. Never went home yesterday.

Chapter 2: How does Aaron Judge's perspective on the Yankees differ from rookies?

37.274 - 48.907 Gio

I mean, if you're Aaron Judge or you're Garrett Cole or you're one of these other guys, these established guys, it doesn't matter. Fine. It doesn't matter what you say. Right. But if you're a rookie showing up there, someone's trying to make it, I don't know, I slept outside in a tent.

0

48.987 - 54.814 Boomer

You're damn right. Are you kidding me? Willie Mays Hayes, they put him out in the parking lot in a bed. Yeah. I'm not going anywhere.

0

55.154 - 57.056 Gio

I am here, and I am ready to go.

0

57.096 - 57.757 Boomer

That's funny.

0

58.618 - 79.38 Gio

Yeah. And then Aaron Judge, I know that we're breaking it down, and it was funny listening to Craig and C-Mac go back and forth on the whole thing, and... That's the most I think Aaron Judge has ever said about the organization when it comes to the things they did or did not do. Now, it was couched with the fact that we're all good now.

79.981 - 101.723 Gio

You got Bellinger back, and I'm ready to go and running it back, and I love it. But the fact that he was talking about how the other teams were doing stuff when they weren't, and they're the New York Yankees. So I wonder, is this going to be like a catalyst or a jumping off point to Aaron Judge speaking out more? Has he gotten to that point in his career where he's going to be...

102.412 - 106.684 Gio

More critical or say more things? Because he's never been that guy, ever.

106.864 - 108.068 Boomer

No, he's a company guy.

108.489 - 120.659 Gio

Right, and he's the captain, and he's doing all these things. He's been perfect. But I wonder now if we're seeing just maybe the tip of the iceberg with Aaron Judge changing a little bit. Telling us more about what's on his mind about the organization.

Chapter 3: What are Aaron Judge's recent comments about the Yankees organization?

181.572 - 186.303 Gio

Yeah, I mean, they had the same record as the Blue Jays. They just had the tiebreaker over them.

0

186.403 - 209.531 Boomer

Sometimes we talk, and I know it's 2009. It's a long time since they won the World Series. I hear you. But we talk about them sometimes like they're this middling 81-81 win team that once in a while makes it to the playoffs. They are there every single damn year. And quite frankly, while he had a nice postseason last year, had he had some big postseasons previous, maybe it wouldn't be since 2009.

0

209.871 - 217.063 Boomer

So I look at this team as a really good baseball team that's got every opportunity to go win a championship this year.

0

217.145 - 239.996 Gio

It's really similar to the Steelers, if you think about it. They won their last Super Bowl around the same time that the Yankees won their last World Series. They had the same coach for a very long time, and now Aaron Boone's been there for a long time. Now they did win that championship with a different manager, but everybody's talking about being stale and the same thing.

0

240.016 - 247.586 Gio

You can kind of compare Brian Cashman more to Mike Tomlin than maybe Aaron Boone to Mike Tomlin. And then the fan base just had it. Like, we had enough now.

247.866 - 271.668 Boomer

And I think it's a great comparison for sure. The only thing I would say, on the contrary, would be the Yankees have been better, though, in the regular season. The Steelers have had a lot of those 9-8 years, 10-7 years, or 9-7, whatever, where they just get into the playoffs. Tomlin was great, never had a losing season. All of that totally understood. The Yankees have gone to the World Series.

271.708 - 284.799 Boomer

They have won the pennant. They have been in the ALCS a whole bunch. It's not like they haven't accomplished anything. They just haven't won the World Series since 2009. And so stale, perhaps. If they win the World Series this year, is it stale? No. But, I mean, you've got to go do it.

Chapter 4: Is Aaron Judge becoming more vocal about the Yankees' performance?

284.819 - 296.109 Boomer

And the idea that the Blue Jays are better than them, I don't see it. I really don't. What they did adding Dylan Seas, okay. They added one hitter. They also lost one that went to the Mets.

0

296.95 - 315.983 Gio

It was just, I think, coming off of last year and how good they were and taking the Dodgers to the brink and all of that. Sure. But sometimes it can work counterproductively for you going into the next season. You mean for Toronto? Yeah, Toronto. They think they're right there. Well, also, I mean, where's your mind when you have this heartbreaking World Series loss?

0

316.003 - 328.286 Gio

You're like, Jesus, we've got to go through all of this all over again just to get to that moment. And a World Series loss that they should have won. Yeah, exactly. It's even worse. It's like the Super Bowl hangover thing that we talk about. All the time.

0

328.386 - 338.124 Boomer

Yeah. I mean, I would take, neither one's good. You lose the World Series, you lose the World Series. But it's almost like the way the Yankees lost to the Dodgers was a lot easier to take than if you're a Blue Jays fan.

0

338.384 - 338.565 Gio

Oh, yeah.

338.585 - 341.751 Boomer

Being on the precipice of like, you were right there.

342.051 - 342.251 Gio

Yeah.

342.652 - 343.153

And then you were.

343.91 - 357.205 Gio

And speaking of the Mike Tomlin stuff, I'm just waiting for that network to announce in the next month or so that he's joining there. He's not going to coach. He may not coach again. Do you think booth or studio?

Chapter 5: What frustrations does Aaron Judge express regarding team signings?

357.605 - 367.656 Gio

They'll probably put him in the studio, and that'll be a mistake. Yeah, I think he'd be great in the booth. I'm with you. I would love to hear what he's thinking while the game is going on.

0

367.636 - 388.067 Gio

Because him just breaking down a team is not as interesting to me as him saying, like, look what this linebacker did here, or this is why this was open, or we used to run a play like this, or something like that. I mean, that to me is where he'd be best. But they'd probably just throw him on a panel with 15 other guys. Which would be, I agree with you, a complete waste of time.

0

388.608 - 399.232 Gio

Complete waste of time. I mean, you've got Matt Ryan leaving. Yeah. CBS should be all over Mike Tomlin. Yeah, but that would be a studio part, wouldn't it? Because wasn't Matt Ryan in the studio? Like I said, I want him in the booth.

0

399.252 - 401.497 Boomer

Oh, so you're saying start him there and then I got you.

0

401.637 - 404.123 Gio

I want him in the booth. I just think that they're going to put him in the studio.

404.103 - 420.687 Boomer

Yeah, I guess you get caught. I mean, I don't know. They wouldn't be comfortable anyway, but that's such a different thing to do. You're in front of the camera anyway as a head coach when you talk to the media, but now you're in front of the camera trying to talk to people in a different way. It takes a little while maybe to get used to it. But yeah, maybe CBS is the one that goes after.

420.707 - 426.195 Gio

But now I'm thinking about it. You know, Carol still be there and you got both the Steeler coaches there. That'd be kind of strange.

426.175 - 427.717 Boomer

Good point.

427.797 - 429.86 Gio

And I'm not trying to replace Bill Coward. No way.

Chapter 6: How do the Yankees compare to other teams in the league?

430.461 - 447.947 Gio

What I'm saying is I would have them both up there, but now I'm thinking, like, man. It's an odd fit. If you're a Ravens fan, you're kind of sick. We had two blonde New York quarterbacks for a decade. Yeah. But, I mean, it wasn't like the same franchise. I know. You feel like if you're a Ravens fan, a Bengals fan, a Browns fan. How about this?

0

448.307 - 452.673 Boomer

Replace Terry Bradshaw with Mike Tomlin. Oh. Oh.

0
0

453.614 - 454.895 Boomer

I mean, not for nothing.

0

455.216 - 456.216 Gio

He would hate that.

456.237 - 473.313 Boomer

Yes, I'm aware. But I also know Terry is not exactly. So watching that Elway documentary, there's Terry Bradshaw doing studio work when John Elway is still playing. He's still doing it now. There's no doubt he has slipped a little bit. Oh, of course. Well, maybe there's the natural transition.

473.533 - 480.82 Gio

I mean, Terry Bradshaw has been doing that pregame show since I started watching football. Think about that. Really. I mean, it's incredible.

480.8 - 482.69 Boomer

Yeah. It's the perfect transition.

483.253 - 484.399 Gio

He would like it. He would hate it.

Chapter 7: What parallels are drawn between the Yankees and the Steelers?

485.002 - 487.897 Boomer

But if you're the network. They're very loyal to their guys there, though.

0

487.917 - 493.003 Gio

Replace a stealer with a stealer. Man, Terry would be miserable. He'd give you some good quotes after that.
