Episode Summary:My topic today is midlife weight gain. Why it happens. What we can do about it. Did you know the average woman gains 1 - 2 pounds per year between ages 40 - 59? That creeps up to a total of about 20-40 pounds in midlife. Ugh!!!So many life changes are happening around this time: pregnancy weight gain, higher stress levels, sedentary jobs, low energy, and more. PLUS all kinds of hormonal changes are taking place in your body. Starting in your 30s, estrogen levels begin to drop and you start losing muscle mass, which causes extra weight to settle around the midsection. Although this all sounds inevitable, there are many ways that you can reverse this trend.
