Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
If you're planning a group holiday or a weekend getaway, PR consultant and avid traveller, Lisa Regan is here with some advice for you. Lisa, you're very welcome. Thank you. Good morning. How are you? Not too bad at all.
Before we get into the politics of travelling in groups, and it can get very, very political when you're doing that, you've just come back from Amsterdam where you went to see the one and only Harry Styles. What was the gig like?
Oh, it was so good. And what a great, I can highly recommend anyone to go to a gig in Amsterdam. So well organised, so efficient in terms of public transport, getting there and getting home. Unbelievable.
Chapter 2: What are the benefits of traveling to concerts in different cities?
And he was sublime, supported by Robin. I am in the older cohort of a Harry Styles fan, so there wasn't too many who knew who Robin was there. But I tell you, we did. And she was exceptional.
And that actually isn't at least it's something that people are doing whether just for something novel or if they can't get tickets or if they if the find is too expensive actually going away to another city for a concert is another really interesting thing to do.
Yeah it's lovely because it gives you a point of going somewhere as well so you know you have a focus and I went on Thursday evening and I came back on Saturday evening so I had a lovely time in Amsterdam the concert was on Friday night so I had a lovely two days really and one long evening in Amsterdam so it was the perfect amount of time and the flight
time over was only like an hour and 30 minutes.
Yeah and I have not been in years but it's a great city to soak up. What is it like for like kind of one of those little mini breaks?
Oh, it's so good. And, you know, the old adage reputation of Amsterdam is long and buried. You know, you avoid the centre, you don't engage in anything of that old reputation that it has. Kind of seedy, whatever. Yeah, it's gone. Yeah, honestly, the food and the coffee scene, everyone is cycling. Their park infrastructure there is phenomenal. I love Amsterdam. I love West Amsterdam.
Their rule there is bike first. And as an avid cycler, I just adore watching people cycling. Just moving through the city with ease on bikes and everyone is out and about now. Perfect time of year where there was gorgeous. It was 25 degrees, but it's a really lovely city now, exceptionally safe. And they just have a lovely way of life.
They're very family friendly as well, too, with all the parks. So loads to do there.
Yeah, and their public transport, they really make it easy for both residents and people who are coming to visit. So let's get into the politics. Who do you like to travel with? Do you like to travel in groups or on your own or a bit of a mix?

Chapter 3: How can group dynamics affect travel experiences?
Someone will give you a lift home from the airport.
Oh, listen, it's brilliant. Before I let you go, very quickly, one top tip, one golden rule that you could give for a successful group holiday.
Definitely speak your mind before you go within, like, I'd like to do this when we get there. Nobody minds things like that. And everybody's like, well, actually, I didn't even know that they did that there. And definitely have an agenda and a schedule for, and I'm not talking about a militant wake.
But do definitely decide what you want from where you're going with and see about food and drinking and anything that you might need to book in advance because you don't want to get there, be walking around, have nothing planned, everything's booked out and then the trip just doesn't really go to plan.
So definitely a little bit of forward planning is essential to a group trip, not so much for a solo trip because you can always just fight with yourself. and be mad at yourself if you're there on your own.
It's funny, Lisa, one of our listeners, Caroline, says, I so agree with I Don't Minds. The ones that do my head in are the ones you send a full itinerary to and ask for input and get nothing back. And then it's, this rest is too fancy. Why are we doing this trip? Oh my goodness, this item could go on and on. But unfortunately, Lisa Regan... That's great, Caroline. Thank you. Thank you, Caroline.
Unfortunately, that's all the time for Lisa. I have to go to a break. But Lisa Regan, PR consultant and avid traveller, thank you for joining us.
