He explains that he was attracted to sales because he saw the opportunity to be compensated based on results rather than tenure or promotion. However, he eventually hit a ceiling in his income and wanted to do his own thing, contributing to something meaningful while helping others. Staley believes that a certain level of "sickness" is required to become a CEO or CRO, as it requires a hard-driving personality. This episode also touches on the risks of AI if we don't learn how to use it responsibly, and if no regulation is ever introduced.
