BritChips podcast: MintNeuro's Fantastic Voyage

09 Sep 2025

Description

I don't know how many of you are old enough to remember the 1960s science fiction movie Fantastic Voyage. In the movie, a submarine and its crew are shrunk to microscopic size and then injected into the bloodstream of a comatose patient.Their mission was to try to disperse a blood clot in the patient's brain that couldn't be treated by conventional surgery. My guest in this BritChips podcast is arguably trying to achieve a similar outcome but with a somewhat different approach. He's Dr Dorian Haci and he's co-founder and CEO of Imperial College London neurotech spin-out MintNeuro.MintNeuro was selected to participate in the the first cohort of the UK Government-sponsored ChipStart programme, managed by Silicon Catalyst UK.Dorian and his team are developing neural chips which can be implanted in the brain using minimally invasive surgery with the hope of treating neurological conditions like epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, and in the future, perhaps even multiple sclerosis, and yes, even blood clots too.You can hear about Mint Neuro's fantastic voyage in this podcast. And you won't even need a submarine!
