Chapter 1: What is the go-home show for AEW Double or Nothing?
Welcome to the Busted Open Podcast. This is Dave LaGreca. On today's episode, myself and Nick Nemeth talk AEW Dynamite and Collision, the go-home shows for Double or Nothing this weekend. We break it all down. Plus, content creator Chiseled Adonis joins us right here on the Busted Open Podcast. This is the busted open podcast. I do want to get into dynamite from last night.
I think it's important. It was a go home show last night. Big show for AEW double or nothing, which is my favorite AEW pay-per-view coming up on Sunday. A lot of memories. The first ever. AEW event was double or nothing before there was even a dynamite. And then obviously you had everything that happened five years ago.
I talked about it with Tom where I tried to talk about it with Tommy dreamer yesterday.
Chapter 2: How did AEW Dynamite prepare fans for Double or Nothing?
Yeah.
Because it's five years ago, which was the first event for AEW coming out of the pandemic where there was a fan-facing event. It was that Double or Nothing from 2021. So a significant episode. I was there in Jacksonville. So Double or Nothing means a lot to me. And I was at that first event for AEW. So big show coming up on Sunday.
But because of collision and the move of collision, he got a three-hour AEW block last night, Nick. He had two-hour dynamite, one-hour collision to get you ready for what we're going to see on Sunday at Double or Nothing. And I got to tell you, top to bottom, strong episode for AEW last night.
Yeah, there's a lot of positives and a lot of motion and moves towards building that pay-per-view. But man, speaking of the pay-per-view, there was a pay-per-view quality match last night. There was the Briscoe and Ciampa and they beat the hell out of each other and they pulled out all the stops. And as much as I sometimes say AEW gives you too much at once...
Chapter 3: What were the highlights of the AEW Dynamite episode?
How great is it to go, I'm looking forward to this gigantic pay-per-view, but there's at least a very real long-running story with Mark Briscoe and Ciampa to where they go back and forth and it makes sense to have this match and the returning Briscoe gets the big win, but they pulled out all the stops.
And my favorite part is occasionally it tends to just be chaos for chaos, but AEW last night, especially in this match, in between those big moments for me, is that anticipation in between. Ciampa putting the spiked knee pad and sliding it up his leg and letting us see that at home, and I'm like, holy crap, what the hell are they going to do next?
And then that not going right into it and taking it away to give it back to it, I really appreciate the way they let both those guys covered in blood. They put it out there, but also in between had me wondering what the hell was going to go next because they caught their breath, and I love seeing that.
Yeah, and what, that was the second match on the show?
Yeah, we're 20 minutes into three hours, yes.
Yeah, and I said this to Tommy yesterday, just reading the matches that we were going to see last night. Last night was like a pay-per-view, you know, on free TV. I'm sorry, but you can't, you can't, Argue about that. Like you can't hate on that. You can't complain about that, that, you know, when you're getting on free TV, a pay-per-view quality show, I'm sorry.
There's not a lot to complain about by that.

Chapter 4: What makes Double or Nothing special for AEW fans?
And, and I, I love that match. There were a few Matt, you know, people, Mike Bailey and Darby last night was fantastic. And we'll, we'll stick a pin in that. Cause I want to talk more about Darby Allen, but right off the bat, you know what really grabbed my attention? And it's Chris Jericho. And I know we talk a lot about Chris Jericho on the show, rightfully so. He's a legend.
He's a friend of the show. But I think he really showed his worth, like his passive aggressiveness with the Bucs. Just enough that like, yeah, I'm keeping you by my side, but also planting a couple of seeds about the history that we have together, but also reasons why at some point I'm going to turn or you're going to turn. Jericho is a master at that.
And I really, really enjoyed the way that that show started last night. And Jericho, dude, I'm telling you, Jericho's the man.
Chapter 5: How did Chiseled Adonis become a successful content creator?
And I love like the two names in one team, you know, Jericho and the Bucks. I thought that was a really good way and a hot way to start that show last night.
Of course, and they always start hot, and sometimes it's that pay-per-view style match kicking it right off, but this time it was the little outside interview, and you go, it's Jericho in the box, and they're like, oh, cool, they're teaming, that's fun. But then, like you said, you get those little digs of, yeah, remember when we beat up our dad? Remember this? Yeah, we don't forget.
We don't forget that, but okay, we are making this big moment happen. We're going out there to defend ourselves. Let's all be on the same page. Well, at least two pages. you have the two different team names. Yes.
Yeah. But I liked it too. We're like, you know, you did beat up our dad.
Chapter 6: What insights does Chiseled Adonis share about audience engagement?
He's like, I'm sorry. Like I've been, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. He deserved it, but I'm sorry. And they both like the, both guys, like both brothers look at each other. Like, did he just say what I thought he said? Like he just, he's, he's great.
The other thing from last night, Nick, and it's something that we've been waiting for since he came back, and you got it on the third hour in the collision portion of last night, is you got that promo from Ospreay. Will Ospreay cut that promo kind of like his goals? He said his goals. Hey, I want to win the Owen Hart tournament.
I want to go to all in and I want to win that AEW world championship. Now, maybe we didn't get the promo we're expecting and the way that we talked about it and the thought that the easy way of doing things, but he set it up. Hey, I want to win this own art tournament. I want to go to all in and I want to face the AEW world champion at all in and win the AEW world championship.
Chapter 7: What challenges does Chiseled Adonis face in content creation?
So now your baby face just set the goals and, So now we know, Nick, we're getting that match at All In. We're getting Will Ospreay versus your AEW world champion at All In in Wembley.
Yep. And that's going down. And also, among the other things that Osprey said last night, I've been noticing his body. He's leaner. He's stronger. He's working a different style. He's got a different mindset. This is a genuine character change.
that I was unsure of at first, and telling you that this is way out of the box, and now so meta that he's actually transforming his body in front of our eyes. From the character Will Ospreay to the man Will Ospreay, but also... Being the character on the show. And he's just going through so many different levels.
Chapter 8: What are the future plans for Chiseled Adonis and his content?
And you do get that promo that says. You're exactly right. We got the baby face. Our guy that's going to lead this way. He just laid it all out. What he wants to accomplish. And how he's going to do it. He said maybe he comments online. Or saying things about his body. I was like I think he looks great. I think he looks leaner and stronger. And more ready. If he needs to choke somebody out.
He's going to be able to do so. If he can't high fly in a match. So there's like the absolute meta-ness of him being able to do any flip and corkscrew thing in the entire world and now combining that with the Death Riders of that grounded pound strike and having everything at your hands here. He's going to be an absolute killer more than he already was, but on different levels.
And as a person going forward with the mentality of what pro wrestling is, this is a big couple of months in the making. And I really like where they're going with it. He's changing his style, but also because maybe he has to because of his neck. but also maybe his character feels that's how you provide, like that's what gives you that legacy.
You weren't just that Osprey guy that flipped around and got everyone cheering for him. You were the guy that had everything make sense and it all fell in line. And here's where it started with these guys right here that tried to break your frigging neck.
Yeah, and he changed his finish. Like, he's got a completely different finisher. It's interesting to me. You know, Bully and I talked about it last Friday about the Death Riders. When you look at it as a whole, it really doesn't make any sense. When you look at when the Death Riders first came on the scene and what now they're doing with Will Ospreay. But I feel like almost...
I hate doing this, Nick, but I feel like you almost have to just start it from Will Ospreay's return. They took Will Ospreay out, and now they're reconstructing him. It's kind of like the $6 million man. You're taking him out, and you're reinventing Will Ospreay.
when you factor in all the stuff with the Callis family and Darby Allen and Orange Cassidy and Hangman Page, when you factor those things into the story or what Jon Moxley did with the AEW World Championship and what he's doing with the Continental Championship, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. But if you look at it just from this story with Will Ospreay, it is interesting.
How it's going to work out, I don't know. Because... Will Ospreay just set his goals. Hey, he wants to go all to all in and he wants to face the AEW world champion. How do the Death Riders factor into that story or how do they not factor into that story? And are we going to get Will Ospreay turning on the Death Riders or the Death Riders going to turn on Will Ospreay? I don't know.
But at least we now know the end game is, I would have to figure, right? MJF versus Will Ospreay for the AEW World Championship, which is what we wanted in the first place.
