Chapter 1: What is the current weather update for Ireland?
The Clare Byrne Show on Newstalk with Aviva Insurance. So far over today and yesterday, and I'm sure we all hope that this weather is to stay, but there is a weather warning in place for some counties this morning. I'm joined by Alan O'Reilly of Carlyle Weather to give us hopefully some good news, but also we need to be mindful, Alan, that we're experiencing very high temperatures, aren't we?
Yes, Clare, unusually high temperatures for this time of the year, especially. But generally, we don't see high 20s heading for 30 degrees too often in Ireland. So there is an unusual kind of, I suppose, feel to it out there. Most people will be enjoying it, but those that are vulnerable and elderly that might need extra help staying cool and obviously pets need access to water, etc.
It is only a few days, but it can cause some issues.
And we are going to see 30 degrees, are we today?
Yes.

Chapter 2: How are unusually high temperatures affecting daily life?
We're going to get close to it. You know, there's a weather station in Durrow in County Leash that's already up to 28 degrees by 11 a.m. So that's unusually hot.
But it's always the Midlands, isn't it, Alan, that gets the really high temperatures or generally?
Yes, it can depend on that variable breeze. So, you know, yesterday, Clonmel and Killarney actually saw the highest temperatures at climatic weather stations that met air and have of 28.8 degrees. Now, it'll take a while for them to verify that as a possible record, but Shannon did get to 28.6 degrees.
So the record was beaten yesterday, but it is likely to be beaten further today where I'd say 29 degrees is likely at least, but there is a chance that we could see 30 degrees.
And for the next few days, is the outlook similar?
It's similar tomorrow.

Chapter 3: What temperature records are being set this week?
We will see a lot of blue skies tomorrow. We will see temperatures still in the high 20s. Now the wind will go a little bit more to the east. So on the east coast it will feel that little bit cooler and the west actually will see the highest temperatures of this spell tomorrow because Believe it or not, while it's 28 degrees in Doro and Leash, it's only 10 degrees at Mallinhead.
So it is a lot cooler on the north coast and the west coast is about 16 degrees today. But it will be a lot warmer there tomorrow. But there is a small chance of a few showers and thunderstorms kicking off tomorrow night. No. Only a small chance.
OK, go on.
But that will be the start of the change, I'm afraid, Clare. So it is going to change tomorrow. We're going to have a lot more cloud on Thursday. Temperatures will drop back. There will be some mist and drizzle. The good news is Friday looks pretty good with sunny spells and only the very odd shower and probably still touching 20, 22 degrees in a few spots, maybe even a little bit higher.
But there is a chance then that likely that we will see some rain on Saturday. Now, I wouldn't be too downbeaten about the bank holiday weekend. It's not going to be a washout, but there is certainly going to be some more rain around and temperatures are going to drop back.

Chapter 4: What can we expect from tomorrow's weather forecast?
And then I wouldn't put away all those jumpers and the spring or autumn collection.
Alan, I'm going to have to cut you off now if this continues. What jumpers, jackets, scarves?
Well, I wouldn't say scarves now, but the jumper will definitely be back later next week because we're looking at highs of only maybe 15 or 16 degrees. So you're looking at a drop, you know, maybe of 14, 15 degrees in temperature high, you know, compared to today, to this maybe, well, next Thursday at least and Friday, it does look much cooler.
So we're going to go from above average to back down a little bit below average.
OK, so everybody needs to take off all of their clothes, put some sun cream on and immediately go outside today because you don't know what tomorrow is going to be like. Well, we have a fair idea of what's coming.
Yes, enjoy today and tomorrow. Wear the sunscreen, have the 99, sit out and enjoy it.

Chapter 5: How will the weather change later this week?
But just remember the season of summer hasn't even started yet. So while it might be a cool start to June and to the meteorological season of summer, we still have a whole three months of summer ahead.
The best is yet to come, Alan. I like your style. I like your vibes. Thank you so much. That is Alan O'Reilly of Carlo Weather. And make sure you enjoy the good weather today and stay safe in those very high temperatures. The Clare Byrne Show. With Aviva Insurance.
