It is Kevin Woodley, Ingle Magazine and NHL.com. And he is always a presentation of White Rock Hyundai. What's going on, Woodley? How you doing today, man? Woodley? Woodley? Do you hear us now?
There we go.
I think we got you now. I'm here. There we go. There we go. Excellent.
Were you guys having technical difficulties?
We've had a lot of technical difficulties. So it's probably on our end.
I thought you were just bitter because I'm talking to you from the 17th hole at Northview Canal.
Oh, lovely. No, no, no, no. I'd rather live vicariously through you, to be honest.
And by the way, I thought maybe we'd get this round in before we had to talk, but we moved this up from four to three, and then we ran into a little bit of slow play today. So you'll have to bear with me.

Chapter 2: What staffing priorities should the Canucks focus on for their rebuild?
don't want to go viral woodley no i don't i do not want to end up uh the latest uh golf whatever i mean i don't even know what they call it like just the golf angry golfers i don't want to be yeah so this game is frustrating enough without getting angry at other people so like do you want us to pause so you can put the phone down and tee off on 18 or what's the story here no no no i was really worried you're going to call like if you are familiar with the canal course uh 17 it's like a
par three with the whole thing's carry over water. So as I was standing on the tee, I was worried the phone was going to ring. I managed to carry the water. I've got a pot here. And, you know, the really good news is you did call in time for me to start talking and all of my playing partners back swing. So they're giving me side eye right now too. But they're like me.
They're all like peace, love, dope too. Let's all get it. Bunch of hippies out here, man. Bunch of hippies.
This is like the Nick Taylor walk and talk in the Canadian Open a few years ago where he was on. Yeah.
When Lena said that we needed to move it up, I said, I can do a walking talk just like the PGA Tour. It's the closest I'll ever be to the PGA Tour. Unless, for those in the media that are listening to this and they've seen me swing, unless, of course, it's a Jim Furyk tribute because my swing's got a few quarks in it. Just a few quarks.
No, but trust me, your golf game is stronger than ours. Well, mine at the very least. Before we get to the cup final, I know we've talked so much about Canucks and what's next. And I know in this market, and I totally understand, we're parsing every word that gets said. We're all trying to figure out what's going to happen next.
And we all have our questions and concerns about, number one, does the... or organization truly have the appetite to go through a proper rebuild and have the patience to go through it and only time is going to tell. But are you at a point where you care what gets said or you're just looking at the actions from this point on? Because part of me is kind of like, it's only been a few weeks.
There's only so much you can say. And until we see them actually get into action over the course of a year, like we're not going to really know what's going to be happening. That's just how I feel about it. And I'm not saying we can't talk about these things. You can have your opinion.
It's totally fine, but it's, uh, there's a lot of nervousness based on the things that, uh, come out of the mouths of the Canucks, uh, decision makers.

Chapter 3: How does Kevin Woodley view the current state of the Canucks organization?
I thought there were signs of fatigue in the first round. They got through it and it looked like he, you know, they get through the next year pretty quick and it looked like he settled down. He hasn't been bad by any stretch, but you're right. Like it just hasn't been the big, that said, like, you know, look at the winner that's, you know, maybe we're being too critical here.
Cause look at, look at the winner that stall scores right before that up the breakaway. Like that is a breakaway from the hash marks off a brutal giveaway. He comes out, gets his ice, gets his edge and actually has a, most guys don't get out fast enough. to actually drift and treat that like a proper breakaway. And Carter Hart does.
And he makes an exceptional save moving to his blocker side on a great move. And then the scramble ensues and he misses the Superman dive. So, you know, maybe we're picking nits here a little bit. At the end of the day, it's four goals in four straight games and I realize that. But, you know, two teams that came into this series being lauded for their defense. And my God, like...
They are both giving up chances. And I would say, I wish I had the numbers in front of me. I apologize for not. But I would say it's the percentage of the quality. Like, after game one, 48% of the chances on Freddie Anderson were high danger. And I feel like that's leveled off a little bit. We're probably in the high 30s still for both teams. Like, I'll see you in game four.
Like, there was a point there where it was like, He's seen seven shots and two goals have gone in, and like six of the seven are high. It's a really tough way to live when like six of the seven chances you face are high danger. So Carter Hart's gotten a bit of a taste of that in this final against Carolina.
It's almost like the defense overall is good, but then when the breakdowns, they are breakdowns, and they are grade A++. So for both goalies, that's the only thing. I think Busty coming in fresh is a good thing, and Carter ā there's probably a little fatigue at this point. I mean, there's a lot of, there's a mental side of it and all the stress of it and the spotlight.
Um, but just that it's, you know, for a guy who barely played any hockey during the regular season and obviously not at all for the previous two and a half, uh, this has been a fair amount of hockey and, and, you know, the difference is they don't have Brandon Busty sitting there. They've got Aiden Hill making six and a half, and they don't seem to want to play him.
Okay, you mentioned the mental side there. Is that where the fatigue shows up as far as, like, the pre-shot reads, or is it pre-shot movement? Is it actual reflexes? Like, where does the fatigue, like, actually manifest for Hart in particular?
I think, like, it's funny because I feel like I'm being critical of his game, and, like, I just described a moment where Huck goes in, and I don't know that it's on him. I feel like mentally being able to lock in and focus, as absurd as that sounds, during a Stanley Cup final, because obviously you've got to be focused. It's just reality.

Chapter 4: What is the importance of hiring a coaching staff for the Canucks?
You got that dough? You got that dough? Hey, did you bring the dough? Walk around in a big trench coat. Look at all the starters I have.
Sir, are you the one going around asking for dough? Literally dough. Zach got kicked out of the FIFA fan fest. Yeah. He's going around.
Concealing dough. I need some dough. Yeah. Concealing combustible kombucha. Yeah. That's the more dangerous part. Honestly. Honestly. Freaked out about that. All right.
