Chapter 2: What are the implications of the PWHL draft for the Vancouver Golden Eyes?
The Vancouver Golden Eyes have the top pick. Caroline joined me on the Able Auctions hotline. Caroline, how are you?
Hey, yeah, thanks for having me. It's great to talk to you guys. I'm doing well. Yeah, it's our pleasure.
Sorry to cut you off there, but I want to ask, I mean, it's been a very, very busy few months for you. How's the offseason going so far?
Yeah, it's been great. Just definitely taking some time to, you know, unwind and just relax a bit and reflect on the year it's been. But yeah, it's been good and looking forward to,
course the next chapter and wherever that may be and you know spending some time with family and friends here soon so just to run through what the the last few months have looked like olympic gold of course tournament mvp at that tournament ncaa championship with wisconsin top player in college hockey i also understand you're graduating on top of that i mean i got to ask how do you find time to get all your credits taken care of and get graduation lined up when you're doing all that other stuff too
Yeah, it's been crazy. I mean, just trying to, you try to do your best to keep everything in line.

Chapter 3: How does Ivar Stenberg's readiness impact his draft position?
But yeah, I mean, it's the life of a student athlete, how it is typically. But obviously this year there's a lot more obligations and things going on. But yeah, it's been some great experiences. So super grateful for that. And, you know, we graduate here in the next couple of days. So looking forward to that and just, you know, try to get all done.
how have things changed for you on kind of a daily basis after the Olympic tournament and the gold medal? And, you know, of course up, up here for our listeners, it was a heartbreaker, but it was a fantastic game and it ends in overtime. What, what have things been like for you since you really became a star on that stage?
Yeah. I mean, after we came back from that, it was kind of just resuming right, right back into our college season. And our goal in mind was winning an NCAA championship. And, we had a couple of games to, you know, get our team all, all back on the same page and then, you know, take care of business. But yeah, for me, it's like life kind of just resumed again.
Chapter 4: What options do the Canucks have with the third overall pick?
And there's definitely a bit more media stuff going on and, you know, just like try to like lock in for school and get that, that done. But yeah, it's just been the same old same and, you know, just taking care of business as our team did.
Did you get a few more looks and maybe people stopping you on campus after that?
Maybe a bit more. Yeah. It's, um, I really appreciate the support and just the community we have at Madison. We're in a great place and we're super lucky. So it's just been great to come back to that community and feel the love of it.
And next up for you, of course, as I mentioned off the top, you're one of, if not clearly, the top prospect in the upcoming PWHL draft, which was just announced today. It's going to be in Detroit on June 17th. What does the process for you in terms of preparation look like in the lead up to the draft?
Yeah, for me, I'm going to head home after graduation this weekend and then resume just been training in the offseason right now, taking some time off the ice, trying to give the feet and ankles a bit of a rest and reset with the long offseason. There's no need to rush back into things just yet.
But yeah, just definitely try to still stay in shape, work out pretty much every day, spend some time with family, and then definitely have my family around me then, surrounding myself at the draft.

Chapter 5: How might San Jose's draft strategy affect Vancouver?
So excited to have them all there, which will be a special time. And just in the meantime, getting ready for that.
You know, it's kind of a unique position because you're already one of the top players in the game, but you are going to be transitioning from the NCAA to a professional league. How are you thinking about that jump and that transition, and what do you expect it's going to be like for you?
Yeah, I'm super excited. I mean, just seeing the growth of the game and how well it's already doing and just being a small part of that, getting to join that next year, it's super exciting. I was fortunate to attend the MSG game back April 4th in New York, which was super special. And seeing that atmosphere and how electric it is just within a league and the support they get
I'm super excited to be a part of that, and yeah, I just can't wait.
Yeah, it's been amazing to watch the growth of the league. Of course, we got the Vancouver Golden Eyes here last year in their inaugural season. I know the league has just announced that Detroit will be getting a team coming up, and it sounds like there's going to be a few more coming up as well.
What's it meant for you to see, not just that there is a professional league now for women, but that it's growing and expanding so rapidly?
Yeah, it's so cool to see.

Chapter 6: What is the significance of playoff performance for NHL prospects?
I mean, when we were younger... you always dreamed about playing professional and you never knew if it was a possibility. And me and my teammates all would say we dreamed of playing in the NHL because there's no sustainable league yet. But now seeing the league and now it's here and the dreams that you once didn't know if it was possible, now you can live in it.
So it's so cool to see how it's sticking around and it just keeps gaining popularity and support. It's phenomenal. And yeah, I'm just super excited for what that holds and hope it keeps growing the way it is and I think we can expect it to do so.
Do you feel like for you especially, and I know you have some other teammates from the Team USA gold medal squad, including your Wisconsin teammate, Layla Edwards, who are going to be going into the league.
And I just wonder, you know, with that victory and what it could do for women's hockey in the USA, coupled with the expansion process ongoing now, do you kind of see yourself as a part of a generation that really has the opportunity to take the game to the next level, especially in the USA? Yeah.
I sure hope so. I mean, we, we, we hope to have that impact and, um, you know, be a part of that growth, be a small part of that, that growth process. But, um, yeah, that's definitely the goal in mind.
And, um, it's a special time to be, you know, just in, in the game of hockey playing, playing women's sports in general with how it's growing for all women's sports and the support that we're all receiving, but to be a part of that pro level, um, and, you know, just looking forward to that.

Chapter 7: What are the potential outcomes for the Canucks in the upcoming draft?
It's, it's just definitely such a special time and,
um hoping that that's the impact that we have on it we're in conversation with caroline harvey olympic gold medalist top pwhl draft prospect here on canucks talk sports net 650 and caroline of course for people who maybe aren't familiar with your game uh you play defense but you have kind of that very new age style where you are extremely dangerous offensively from the blue line how did you develop your game into what it is now yeah thank you i appreciate that um
I mean, for me, it's just a continuous developing process. I'm someone who's never complacent and always working on my craft. So I feel like I love to bring an offensive element to the game. That's something I love just so much. And especially on the offensive blue line, it's just always getting creative up there, adding new deception moves. And then also within the
Like, obviously, I play defense, shutting down the other team and then going off on the offensive pursuit, just transitioning quick. That's what I love to do in the game and getting creative. And, you know, I always like trying new things, even if it's not comfortable doing those things. Just, you know, getting out of my comfort zone.
Was there ever a moment where you really had to kind of convince a coach like, hey, coach, I've got I know I'm on defense, but I've got this. I can do a little extra offensively because we know coaches tend to be conservative sometimes.
Yeah, definitely.

Chapter 8: How does the GM search affect the Canucks' future direction?
I've definitely come across some coaches like that. And at first they're hesitant or they'll be like, you know, what are you doing out there for maybe a second? But then it's just more so gaining their trust and, you know, them knowing that I might take some risks, but I'll recover. And yeah, it's just a trust factor.
And it might be kind of a shock to coaches at first if they have more of a conservative style, but just them knowing that, yeah, I have the best interest of the team and I'm not doing anything selfish out there. I'm just, you know, adding a different element to the game.
So the Vancouver Golden Eyes here in town, they have the first overall pick in the upcoming PWHL draft. And of course, they secured the first overall pick, not by having the worst record, but through the gold plan winning or accumulating the most points after they were eliminated from the playoffs.
How closely were you watching that portion of the PWHL season to say, hey, I'm kind of curious about what this draft order is going to look like?
Yeah, I mean, honestly, the last couple of years since the league, the inaugural season started, me and Layla, like we lived together and we would always turn on every single game. We don't really miss, we rarely miss a game and we're always locked into what's going on. But especially around like the time you stated of the golden plan coming out, we were definitely even more so locked in.
And yeah, it was crazy how it came all the way down to the end. And I just remember me and Layla were sitting on our couch and we're like, oh my God, is it going to, Seattle is going to be Vancouver. I don't know like what's going on. And then, you know, it happened the way it did. And we were just so excited to be watching it.
Yeah, it's funny. I was saying, you know, I knew about the gold plan, but I'd never really been locked into paying attention to it and seeing it play out. And this year with the gold and I was winning, it was just an incredible, incredibly exciting process. Now, look, we don't know, you know, which direction the draft is going to go. But, you know, I do have to ask.
There's a good chance you end up in Vancouver. Have you been to Vancouver before? How much do you know about the city?
I've never been. I actually have never been to Seattle or Vancouver, like on the West Coast. I just haven't made it out there yet, but I've heard amazing, amazing things. And if I'm to get the honor to play there, I would love to be a part of that. I mean, I've heard great things about the Golden Eyes as well and just the community around it. It seems so amazing.
