Chapter 2: What are the latest developments in the Vancouver Canucks front office?
Store your toys close to home. Visit MyGarageHope.com for more information. All right, we did the crossover in the first segment, so let's wrap up the show with the whiteboard.
All right, now, fellas, hey, let's focus up, huh?
It is your daily deep dive into what's up with the Canucks for today, May 13th. And the headline is, we don't have any official news still yet, but it sounds like we have a very good idea now of what the Canucks front office is going to look like after this search concludes or after the announcement is made official.
based on reporting from Elliott Friedman yesterday, Ryan Johnson is going to be the general manager. And again, according to Elliott Friedman, it sounds like, and this is not official, so we'll have to see eventually what happens here, what unfolds, sounds like Henrik and Daniel Sedin will come in above Ryan Johnson in the hierarchy. Now,
It's interesting because the way Friedman framed this yesterday, it was he had assumed it was going to be like the Sundin-Chaika dynamic, right, where Chaika has the final say and Sundin is there an advisor.

Chapter 3: How will the Sedin twins influence Ryan Johnson's role?
And he said it doesn't sound like that's going to be the case. I still do have questions about exactly where the authority is going to lie, the reporting structure, all of that, because it is still possible for the Sundins to be co-presidents of hockey operations, right?
but for Ryan Johnson to be the one primarily responsible for making hockey decisions and charting the direction of the franchise. And that would be... That's still what I expect, by the way. That wouldn't be the Chaika Sundin dynamic, but it would be, as we talked about yesterday, the Keith Jones-Daniel Breer dynamic.
That's still what I'm expecting. But, you know, this is what I was reporting on Monday, right? Was that this was still a moving target, that the sides were still discussing it, and that it could go, as far as the Sedins being presidents, it could be more like an advisor setup. Like, what I'd heard on Monday, and it was really the only...
good bit of intel I had this week as the cone of silence descended for everyone but Elliot Friedman credit to him was that the twins role was still being discussed internally right and so it seems like they've landed in a more expanded spot
Chapter 4: What is the expected authority structure within the Canucks organization?
the twins clearly willing to spend even more time, right? Commit even more significantly to this organization, which, by the way, is a huge part of this, right? I don't know if we've dwelled on that enough, right? Like, these are guys with more money than God, great lives.
They're taking on a real...
a like a lot of responsibility a lot of responsibility yeah and and and it's risky and it's significant and it's a huge time suck especially when you consider they were already working for the organization in a full-time capacity doing something they were really good at and appear to enjoy yeah and you know it's not even like well i wanted i really wanted to get back into hockey they were in hockey they were helping the team they played in their entire careers with
in a way that really suited them, and now they're choosing to take this on. Like, that's a big deal. To step up to the plate to this degree is really significant.
These are guys with huge amounts of pride in this organization and what this organization can be.

Chapter 5: What challenges does the Canucks organization face in rebuilding?
They're believers. Like, they believe in the Canucks as an entity, as an institution. And good, because I think so do we. So do our listeners. But sometimes it feels like the organization doesn't. To be totally honest with you, sometimes it feels like the organization's ambition for itself does not match the aspirations for it from its fans and from the marketplace.
And so my gut would be the Twins... are such, like, holistically complete people with such a unique sense of self-awareness. You know, I mean, they were basically offered this job. Friedman noted this, but, I mean, this is well reported from back in 2021.
Chapter 6: How do the Sedins' commitments impact their new roles?
They were basically offered this job in 2021 and said, eh, we're not really ready. Like, that speaks to something really telling about the character of an individual and their own self-assessment and their own sort of rigorous process in terms of like, what am I ready for? What will make me happy? What do I want? Right.
And this is something that I think is true to who they've been as people, you know, from their charitable contributions, the way they are as family men, the way they are as teammates that never had a bad day thing, how committed they've remained to fitness, right? Like these are complete, fully developed people. I'm so serious. It matters.
Chapter 7: What lessons can be learned from the Sedins' previous career decisions?
It does. It's impressive. I'm not a fully developed, complete person. You're probably closer. Yeah, you love junk food.
I really do.
Yeah, there's no way the Sedins would ever eat as much McDonald's as you do. I eat very healthy at home. Right. Yeah.
Chapter 8: How can the Canucks maximize their rebuilding strategy?
Fair enough. So your lunch is your cheat meal. Yes, yes.
But you don't have a cheat day. You have a cheat meal. No, that's not true. I ate leftovers today. Delicious, healthy leftovers. Good for you. Yeah. What were the leftovers? It was like a chicken stir fry. That sounds fantastic. I'm not going to lie. Broccoli, some carrot, like a ginger soy thing going on. It was great.
I'm here. I'm at home alone without my wife. Like I've become, I've become completely feral. And, uh, one thing, one thing is like, I went to buy my, I was like, I was like, you know what? I'm just going to go to the grocery store and buy some stuff for like, for like easy, like chicken and salad, protein and salad.
So I went and bought a rotisserie chicken and then I went to the salad and I was like looking to like figure out other vegetables to buy. And I just bought like three of those pre-made salads.
Oh yeah. Yeah.
And I was just like, it was perfect. Perfect.
Rotisserie chicken, pre-made salad, and like a loaf of your favorite bread. Your favorite crusty bread. That's pretty much all I bought. That is bachelor dinner right there.
That's literally all I bought, except I bought eggs as well. It's bad. I'm like immediately my divorced father. Yeah. It's crazy. Anyway, the... Sorry, let's get back on track. The Sedins are fully developed people.
The Sedins are much better people than us. Much better people. They would never do that. They're making a salad from scratch. 100% of the time.
