The clothing you are wearing right now has a surprisingly large impact on our environment and climate systems. The fashion industry is responsible for 8.1% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Today’s combination of petroleum-based textiles and cheap, abusive labor practices has given rise to what is called Fast Fashion, an industry of poorly-made, throw-away clothing, that in turn has led to a massive environmental deluge of micropollutants and overflowing landfills. Join host, Bob Grove, and guests from the U.S., Chile and Columbia to discuss the International Sustainable Fashion Movement. Guests include: Francisca Gajardo, Sustainable Fashion Designer and Creator of the upcycling brand Y.A.N.G. Carolina Gaitan Montoya, Founder, La Cortisana Eileen Bobowski, Executive Director, The Sewing Labs Laura Treas, Founder, Fashion Tech KC Beth Sarver, President, KC Restoration School Diego Sandoval, Program Officer, International Research and Exchanges Board
