Episode 32: Childhood Attachment and Styles

15 Oct 2023

Description

Welcome everyone to episode 32. Let’s talk about what attachment is and where attachment styles began. Why is your childhood attachment to your caregiver so important? Mary Ainsworth was a famous psychologist who came up with the initial three types of attachment. Secure, ambivalent-insecure and avoidant-insecure attachment. Later on, researchers Main and Solomon added a fourth attachment style called disorganized-insecure attachment. These names over time have been adapted as you’ll notice in the online quiz however attachment styles as we know it, were pioneered by the original research of Bowlby & Ainsworth.
