Pallavi Sastry on Fibromyalgia, Living with Invisible Illness, and Destigmatizing the Dialogue

24 Oct 2018

Description

This week on Courageous Wellness, we welcome filmmaker, actress, and podcast host Pallavi Sastry! Pallavi is the lead producer on the documentary film: INVISIBLE, which is currently in post-production. "Invisible," tells the often ignored stories of people suffering from Fibromyalgia, a syndrome that many still believe doesn’t exist. The film also exposes the fight with insurance and drug companies for proper treatment and how access to holistic health and education is determined by class and money. In this episode we go deep into Fibromyalgia, living with an invisible illness, and destigmatizing the dialogue around all physical and mental illness. Pallavi studied musical theatre at the University of Oklahoma and is also an accomplished actress with credits on network television, film, off-broadway, national tours, and commercials. She thrives on collaborating with forward thinking filmmakers to portray the every woman regardless of race, religion, upbringing, preconceived beauty standards, or economic status. Her own podcast "What are Friends For" (WAFF) was released yesterday! It is available everywhere podcasts can be found.
