Ep644 - Aaron B. Koontz, Creator and Co-Showrunner ‘Revival’

13 Jun 2025

Description

Aaron B. Koontz is a filmmaker, writer, and founder/CEO of Paper Street Pictures, a leading force in independent genre cinema. He has directed CAMERA OBSCURA, THE PALE DOOR, and the cult-favorite SCARE PACKAGE series on Shudder. As a producer, he has worked on projects like THE ARTIFICE GIRL, THE REQUIN, OLD MAN, and BLOOD RELATIVES. Most recently, he worked as the co-showrunner of the series REVIVAL. The show follows a rural town in Wisconsin where the deceased rise from their graves, yet appear and act unchanged. And now, it is up to Officer and single mother Dana Cypress to solve a murder case where everyone, alive or undead, is a suspect. In this interview, we talk about his transition into directing and producing, the use of genre elements to tell personal stories, his new show REVIVAL, the challenges of adapting a comic series, and much more.
