Chapter 8: What conclusions can be drawn about the Kinahan Cartel's operations?

55.115 - 76.545 Eamon Dillon

So this is the guy who was working for one of Bomber Cavanaugh's car businesses in Birmingham at the time. And it's parked in Dublin Airport in the CCTV of the vehicle, you know, at Dublin Port and then arriving in, I think it's the short-term car park that they were using. And then on the 27th of March, again, this is all the CCTV evidence. It shows...

76.525 - 100.174 Eamon Dillon

It shows McGovern leaving his house in Kildare Road by bicycle and this is on his own CCTV and there's messages then to Mallet as well that the vehicle being left in the short-term car park And he then, he travels basically, himself and Keating end up then later that morning. They're seen going into the airport. They're using the ticket machine.

They leave the airport and they head north after buying this sat-nav system in Halfords. This is the one that's seized later and kind of is again more evidence that will be used against them. And that shows the movement of the car. It shows them carrying out their surveillance at this address. Is it the cottage apartments or something or... The address up in Belfast where Mago is.

0

122.82 - 146.442 Eamon Dillon

Yeah, it's an apartment complex. It's an apartment complex in the city centre. There's an underground car park and they're on CCTV again. So the PS and I were hugely involved in this investigation. And it shows McGovern and Keating carrying out surveillance at this address. The van, they're parked near, very close to it. And then it's a security gate or whatever.

And there's again CCTV of them and Apple Green on the way back to Dublin where they stop. And McGovern, they actually, they were able to detail, they can see that McGovern actually has this BlackBerry PGT, BlackBerry device in his hand walking into the services.

160.16 - 179.126 Nicola

And he's wearing those very distinctive clothes that he left the house in earlier that morning. The cycling gear, black and white striped, sort of a Lycra suit outfit. So he's fairly distinguishable. There's a message that evening Sean McGovern sends to Thomas Bomber Kavanagh, just got in. Up there today didn't seem hard to watch except you have to keep moving.

179.988 - 187.78 Nicola

There's a hotel, they were sort of talking about there was a hotel and a room possibly that they could hire across the road from it that they'd be nearer.

187.821 - 197.395 Eamon Dillon

And they were talking about how it's hard to watch and you have to keep moving, there's no place to park. This is the idea then to get the hotel and make a news. So it's a real clear... Yeah.

197.415 - 213.858 Eamon Dillon

It's like you're coming back and you're deciding, well, you know, no more than we would one time trying to get pictures of people or you'd be discussing where it's best to park the car and wait for somebody or where they might turn up. And so it's very much a kind of a debrief in this. So they're back the next day or very shortly afterwards. 30th of March, they're back up in Belfast.
