Chapter 1: What insights does Will Day share about his recent game performance?
The last piece of the Bunnings build-up on Crunch Time.
Bunnings trade get tax time sorted with big deals is to catch up with Will Day after his efforts with the Hawks last night. Will, it's great to have you on Crunch Time. Welcome.
Hey, thanks for having me.
Did you enjoy last night? Right back to it for you.
Yeah, no, it was a lot of fun. It was a really gutsy effort from the boys to go up there in those humid conditions. We knew it was going to be tough, but yeah, it was great to come away with the four points.
We spoke a lot about your midfield stuff, as good as I've seen, particularly centre-bounds. How much work has gone into that?
Yeah, we do a lot on centre-bounds. We've probably done quite a bit the last few years and I think a lot of other teams have sort of caught up in that area knowing how important it is these days to win a game of football.
So we've had to change a few things here and there, but I think the thing for us has just been continuity of players in there and now that I'm back in and we also have Connor Nash to come back in as well, that's going to really help us going forward.
You yourself, Will, have you had to change the way that you're going to play your football considering the injuries that you've had? Sam Mitchell's spoken a little bit about that publicly.

Chapter 2: How has Will Day adjusted his playing style after injuries?
I wish I didn't need to have performed off injuries. But yeah, I think doing a lot of work behind the scenes, I think our rehab team at Hawthorne is the best in the AFL and the confidence that they give us coming back from injuries, like even Tom Verratt in his first game back after his hammy, like he was great last night and
I think just nailing all the little things that when you do come back, you have the most confidence that you can in your body. And I've been able to do that. And I think just my love of the game, just getting back out there, like I've just got all this extra energy and just finding the joy in the game is something that really spurs me on as well.
Did you ever have fears that you wouldn't get back or that your body's not built for the demands of the game? Have you allowed ever that to ever creep into your mind?
I'd probably be lying if I said I didn't have those thoughts. But I guess anyone would with the amount of injuries I've had. And it's something that you've just got to sort of work with. And I think everyone has those type of thoughts, whether it's performance-based or injuries as well. But I think it's something you've just got to lean into.
And we've got a great psychologist at the club, Ed Barlow, that I've worked really closely with. throughout my time in rehab. And I think it's not going away from those thoughts, but sort of accepting them and working through them. And I think I've come out the other side from being able to do that.
So time on ground, you're up to 67% last night. Just throw forward for us, 15 games in a row, preliminary final night. What is your ideal time on ground when you're fully seasoned?
Yeah, I don't think I'll be as high as probably some other midfielders in the competition. I think we want to maximise my power and using some burst through the middle. It'll definitely keep creeping up a little bit, but I think in previous years I've been up close to the sort of 83, and I think that might be a little less just now. sort of still managing the foot.
It's back to 100%, but I guess we don't want to just go straight back into the deep end, but also me as a player and working out what's best to maximise what I bring out on the field.
Great insights, Will. Good on you. It's great to see you play like that last night. All power to you for what's to come.

Chapter 3: What strategies are in place for improving centre-bounce performance?
They've been through a lot. They haven't had a bye yet.
Bye's this week?
Yeah, next week. Yeah, next week for them. Just got to hang in for one more.
Hang in for one more, yes.
