05 Feb 2021

Description

In today's episode, the girls spoke with the brilliant force behind Minding The Gap, Kathleen Gaines. She is a former professional dancer, turned journalist and now creator of an amazing mental health research and education platform for dancers. Her work has been most recently highlighted in the Dance Teacher Magazine article, Inside Point Park’s First-of-Its-Kind Dancer Mental-Health Program, but it all started in 2017 when she wrote the article that went viral for Dance Magazine, Why Are We Still So Bad At Addressing Dancers' Mental Health? She spoke in depth about the inspiration behind starting this movement, and how she plans to change the future of dance.  You can learn all about Minding the Gap here: https://www.wearemindingthegap.org/ And connect with them on Instagram @we.are.minding Additionally, you can find the work by Sanna Nordin-Bates we spoke about in the episode regarding the link between perfectionism and creativity here If you are in crisis, please call 1-800-273-TALK (8255) to reach a 24-hour crisis center, text MHA to 741741, call 911, or go to the nearest emergency room.
