Data is a novel type of asset, distinct because it can be copied without costs; a so-called non-rival economic good. Because this economical resource can be used many times and in parallel it has such great potential. The Data Act focuses on the specific category of IoT data. It connects the rights on physical hardware (ownership, lease etc) with the rights on the data.
