In the book he argues that we live in an age dominated by the tyranny of short-term thinking. We have unlearned how to empathize with future generations and suffer from political presentism: a bias towards prioritizing short-term political interests and decisions. How did we end up here? What can we do to become good ancestors? And how do we translate long term-planning and inter-generational thinking into significant political practice?
