Today on the podcast, I am chatting to Phoebe Deklerk. Phoebe is a funeral singer, who loves to use music to celebrate and honour the life of someone who has passed away. Music plays a very important part of a funeral service. It can be very emotive and it usually helps to set the tone of the ceremony. Phoebe believes in empowering families to take more control of the music choice that they use for their loved one’s funeral. And she suggests not to leave the decision making to the last minute. Conversations about funeral playlists don’t need to be a morbid topic of discussion. And it is important to share with family and friends your wishes, before it is too late. Phoebe believes that playing a loved ones favourite songs at a funeral really captures the essence of who they are and personalizes their farewell in an authentic way.
