Procrastination and Perfectionism: Understanding the creative block

In this second episode of season three, dedicated to creativity and living a creative lifestyle, we’ll start getting into some of the blocks and traps that get in our way. In giving it some thought, I’m starting to believe that our creative blocks come in pairs - I call them “Creative Block Power Couples”. This week we’ll deal with one of the biggest ones: Perfectionism and Procrastination. We’ll talk about how one feeds into the other and how they both affect our self-worth and self-trust. I also want to speak to how they both contribute to a never-ending hamster wheel of never-enoughness. Here are some prompts for you to reflect on during and after the podcast: Do you often observe yourself procrastinating on a creative project or on a business project? What does your self-talk sound like? Do you hear a lot of shame, guilt, or blame? When you take an honest look at how you spend your time and energy, does it bring you closer to where you want to be OR further away from what you’re trying to avoid ? How can I trust myself and my path more? What could trusting myself look like today? If I approach this with more compassion, how would it look, feel and sound like? What am I really avoiding?
