Dewing Grain Podcast

65 – Lizzie Emmett – Many Rivers To Cross

09 Dec 2019

Description

We start this week with Andrew's latest thoughts on the markets in the Dewing Grain market report for week commencing 9th December 2019. In Farmchat Andrew meets up with Lizzie Emmett who is the Upper Wensum Cluster Farm Advisor - working directly for a group of 23 famers primarily involved in keeping the Wensum river water quality really good to avoid the threat of the surrounding farms being grassed over. Lizzie explains how she is helping to manage the farms in the Wensum to reduce run off - using a whole host of difference methods from silt trapping to reintroducing ponds. Lizzie has found by spending lots of time with the famers she has been able to inspire and equip famers with the knowledge and resources to make changes on their farm to look after their soil and the water courses. Andrew shows off his recently acquired knowledge of the number of chalk based rivers (having learnt bout it from Ali Cargill - Episode 61) 3 in Norfolk and only 6 in the rest of the UK! This week the podcast is sponsored by Brewin Dolphin - A wealth management company who has been helping families for years to accumulate, grow and protect their money to cope with the changing financial climate.
