Mason Kuhr: Stop Preaching, Start Embodying: The Key to Real Influence | DSH #1516
31 Aug 2025
Chapter 1: What led Mason Kuhr on a transformative journey to faith?
they wouldn't listen to me yeah and you know finally i just stopped caring i stopped trying to change them and what i've learned in the process is like we're so focused on changing other people that when we change ourselves that's when the change actually happens because you you become a lighthouse instead of a tugboat like you stop trying to go out into the waters and get killed and you just give them the light to come find you
Okay, guys, got Mason on today. Haven't seen him in two years. We actually filmed a podcast when I was first starting the show that never aired, but it's good to see you again, man. You too, bro. It's been a while. A lot has changed.
Chapter 2: How does Mason differentiate between fear-based Christianity and the true message of Jesus?
A lot has changed, and I think this episode will air, so that's a good thing. Let's go, hopefully. So you've gone from new age, because you were new age two years ago, right? I mean, I guess if you want to put the label on, I call it more self-reliant, right?
Chapter 3: What personal struggles did Mason face regarding lust and temptation?
So it's like the control your reality type thing, use willpower. Manifestation. Yeah, manifestation in a way. I use what is called mental transmutation.
Chapter 4: How do psychedelics influence spiritual experiences according to Mason?
Yeah. Right, which it's still valid. It's like using the power of your mind against itself to help you When people try and control reality, all they can do is control their perception, right? So that's really what it's doing. It's just helping you interact with life differently. But I thought that was it, right?
Chapter 5: What insights does Mason share about coping with loss and family relationships?
And then I've gone down that path. I've gone down like Buddhism path, Hinduism, explored a little bit of Islam, shamanism, done the plant medicine. like I was saying before, was raised in a Christian home. So it's like been down all these paths and then they led back to me to a relationship with Jesus. So it's been like, I didn't want that relationship.
So it's not like I'm someone who was born in the church. I was very much against having a man
Chapter 6: What was Mason's experience with ayahuasca and its impact on his spirituality?
have authority over me. Like that's, it felt like I don't trust him. It felt like I had to like earn love. Right. So I just had this belief. I was like, nah, I'm just going to do my own thing. Cause I don't trust him. And you know, what I found too is people's view of God is usually based around their view of their dad. Interesting. Yeah.
Chapter 7: How does Mason's perspective on the Bible's relevance evolve throughout the episode?
So the way you, yes, the way you view, you viewed your dad, if he was like a hypocrite, you don't trust what God tells you. Wow. If you think he was controlling, I think God's a tyrant. Right.
Chapter 8: What does Mason believe about the signs of the end times?
If you think he is soft, like I don't look up to God, you know, and so we project that's that's our dad's job is literally to be a representation of God's character from the day we're born. And because we're born into sin and sin just means missing the mark. Right. If you think about it, it's like your parents had issues, right? Yeah. Their parents had issues.
It's a long lineage of issues, and that's what it is to be born into sin, separation, where we're not living in this God-connected character. And so we inherit all the dysfunction, and it ends up on us. And so we basically go our entire lives trying to rewrite that. and build a relationship.
And what I found, it's like, hey, I just had to build a relationship with Jesus who was pure, who was not messed up in those areas, right? Because it's like our parents weren't trying to do anything to us. They're doing the best they could, but they still were not perfect, right? And they were still carrying generational trauma and bondage.
And it's like, you talk to new agers and all that stuff, they'll say it all the time. It's like they acknowledge the generational stuff, But the one thing they won't acknowledge is that there is a hierarchical system with authority, right? So it's like there's two different camps. The self-reliant, I want complete freedom. I can float around like a fairy.
It's very like feminine energy that is not grounded, right? And there's no boundaries around it. So it's like you can do whatever you want. It's like spiritual orgies in a way. And then on the other side, you have people who are born into like the church or just religion. But they don't understand why. Like they just accepted this identity. And so their heart's not actually connected to it.
And they go around their whole life in their mind. Like this is what you got to do. Blah, blah, blah. But they don't understand why because they haven't actually lived it. Right. Right. So it's like it's this heart or it's this heart and the mind type of battle back and forth. Where it's like the true path is embodiment. of the message, which I found is in the Bible.
It's embodiment of the message. That's the only way that you can know the truth because people have knowledge about the truth, but wisdom comes through walking it. That's how you gain understanding. It's like every lesson we've learned in our life was after the fact, right? We had to look back and be like, oh, this is what came out of it. Right. Right.
And so you have to actually walk it or it's just theory. Right. You're just you're playing on theology, which is important, but it's like you don't even understand it. It's not real to you. And so you can't know it. You just believe it. Right. And then the other side of it is, yeah, I'm just going to float around, do whatever I want and think I'm my own God, but not realize that.
there's still something missing inside of me. And I feel like I have to biohack myself to death or meditate myself to infinity and beyond and do all of these things to try and attain a relationship with God when the deeper level language that's being said is I'm not worthy. That's deep. Yeah. Getting right into it. I know. It's been like five minutes. No, you're good, bro.
