When it comes to cold weather we're not all in the same boat. Some of us can cope with low temperatures, while others are super sensitive, especially on their hands and feet. For some people extremities can become numb, painful, change colour or even develop into frostbite. Usually, when it's cold, vasoconstriction helps to protect us against low temperatures, by prioritising blood flow to vital organs at the expense of the extremities. However, this can be exacerbated in certain cases, and as a result the small vessels that are supposed to irrigate the body's extremities no longer supply enough blood to the hands, feet and sometimes the nose and ears leaving them extremely cold. What causes these microcirculation problems? And what can you do? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!
