Turns out artists and magicians can teach scientists more than a thing or two about perception and cognition. We chat with Susana Martínez-Conde, an award-winning neuroscientist and science writer who co-wrote the bestsellers Champions of Illusion and Sleights of Mind. Martínez-Conde has more tricks up her sleeve, including a new research project at her lab at SUNY Downstate Medical Center meant to help radiologists detect anomalies in X-rays and other medical images.
