As an emotion it has quite a negative connotation, especially in women. We’ve been brought up and society expects us to not express or show anger outwards. What happens is, an internalisation (can lead to depression) or bubble up and expresses itself through hyper anxiety, sudden rage, jealousy, and aggression. These sudden and strong feelings are difficult to contain and can cause damage, much broader than the one we’ve tried to prevent. Anger triggered in relationships is normal. Yet, when children are involved, it can be traumatic for them to witness violence in form of anger among the parents. This includes raising the voice, smashing things, slamming doors loudly, as far as the extreme end of physical violence. Anger is a way of boundary setting, a clear sign, when boundaries are overridden. How to cope? One should be able to express anger as any other emotion, yet without hurting others. -Physical activity can be a great outlet -Music in all forms -Creative arts -Writing -Choice Point: choose constructive anger release vs. letting it out uncontrolled @drschwank @unesurcent
