Duke Basketball Roundup

#347 - Countdown to Countdown

15 Oct 2021

Description

This episode of the Duke Basketball Report Podcast covers a lot of topics from this week in Duke Basketball. Donald was in Durham earlier this week to meet with the incoming head line monitors, and we are excited for the season to get started with Countdown to Craziness. First up, the unfortunate news that AJ Griffin is out indefinitely with a knee injury of unknown severity. The news gives us unhappy memories of Harry Giles and Kyrie Irving, who also dealt with injuries as freshmen that limited their playing time and therefore their teams' ceilings. We also speculate about who will shoulder the load for Griffin in his absence. Speaking of guys stepping up, the second bit of news that is more optimistic for Duke fans is that Wendell Moore and Joey Baker have officially been made captains for Coach K's final team. On the recruiting front, Jon Scheyer has officially logged his first miss as the Duke head coach, with 2022 guard JJ Starling picking Mike Brey and Notre Dame. We are keeping clear heads about this development, because Coach Scheyer has enjoyed an embarrassment of riches on the trail so far. We wrap with news about Coach K's retirement plan as it relates to Duke and Cameron Indoor Stadium, and (sigh) Kyrie Irving's current take on not getting vaccinated. We try to remain calm. Stay in touch with us at dbrpodcast at gmail.com, and we'll be back after Countdown. Have fun tonight Duke fans! Learn more about your ad choices.
