How much of a man’s legacy is his own? How much is owed to the zeitgeist? A close look into Fritz Haber's formative years marked by ambition, rejection, and identity struggles. Set in 1890s Germany — a society rife with anxiety and antisemitism — Haber, a brilliant but restless young chemist, faces repeated failures. Denied opportunities in the military due to his Jewish heritage and dismissed by academia, Haber wrestles with isolation and self-doubt. In a desperate bid for acceptance, he renounces his faith and family, starting anew as a Protestant and taking an unpaid assistantship.
