It is a program for parents with very sick children to help them minimise the impact of the illness on their own mental health and wellbeing. Research has found that parents suffer significant mental health issues (depression, anxiety, PTSD), and that this has been shown to impact on family functioning. This is a program based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and has been well received by parents and so far is giving us good results. Guests 4 and 5: Prof. Sandra Kentish and Dr Greg Martin from the University of Melbourne's School of EngineeringChemical and Biomolecular Engineers have discovered a new way to deliver carbon dioxide to microalgae, which in turn, can be harvested to make renewable fuels such as biodiesel.Guest 6: Alistair Evans from Monash UniversityPredicting human evolution - Monash University-led research has shown that the evolution of human teeth is much simpler than previously thought, and that we can predict the sizes of teeth missing from human fossils and those of our extinct close relatives (hominins). A new study published today in the journal Nature, confirms that molars, including wisdom teeth, do follow the sizes predicted by what is called 'the inhibitory cascade' - a rule that shows how the size of one tooth affects the size of the tooth next to it.
