Your mom was right. Who you hang out with tends to define you. If you're hanging out with people who are okay with the status quo and don't have drive to do more, they'll pull you down to their level. If you want to level up, you need to elevate your peers.  Find mentors who have been there and done that, have a proven track record, and are willing to show you the ropes or even just grab a cup of coffee.
