Black meeting professionals share their thoughts on the Black Lives Matter protests and how the industry should respond. The past two weeks have seen large-scale demonstrations in almost every major U.S. city and across the world as hundreds of thousands of people have taken to the streets to protest the killing of George Floyd, and the need for widespread police reform. The events have not only renewed demands for major changes, but have put the spotlight on the country’s ongoing discrimination against people of color, and black people in particular. On this episode of Eventful: The Podcast for Meeting Professionals, we hear from industry insiders on the protests, their own experiences, and the need for greater diversity in the meetings industry. Elliott Ferguson, president and CEO of Destination DC and national chair for the U.S. Travel Association (left), and Jason Dunn, group vice president of diversity sales and inclusion for the Cincinnati Convention and Visitors Bureau and chair of the National Coalition of Black Meeting Professionals (right), are among those who share their thoughts.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
