๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ Extended version of this interview: https://www.patreon.com/posts/are-strength-for-93203879 ๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธA recent study investigated whether powerlifting is a viable option for a health intervention across the lifespan. Can you use powerlifting to gain and keep health as you age? It is an interesting topic, as many people struggle with being active enough and building or sustaining strength to support aging. Additionally, it raises the question of whether other strength sports, like Olympic weightlifting, could be used as a health intervention for all ages too.I have invited the first author, Dan van den Hoek, to speak about the study. Dan is a senior lecturer in clinical exercise physiology at the University of the Sunshine Coast (Australia). His research currently focuses on strength adaptation and factors affecting sports performance, particularly in powerlifting.Enjoy!Original research paper:van den Hoek D, Mallard A, Garrett J, Beaumont P, Howells R, Spathis J, Pearson J, Latella C.
