Soufiane Ababri's work took us to The Curve, a difficult space at the Barbican that Ababri worked to his advantage and to the delight of these two exhibitionistas. The artist's work explores notions of diaspora, immigration, colonial trauma, post-colonial issues, queerness and much more. But most of all it is a delightful installation of magnificent drawings for their skilled unskillfulness and their recording of queer love, tenderness, sex and life. The exhibition is called "Their mouths were full of bumblebees but it was me who was pollinated", and it was a commission specifically for the, well, curved space of The Curve.
