Exploradio - Your Audioguide for Namibia

Windhoek Massacre

08 Jul 2024

Description

In the 1950s, the South African Apartheid-Government introduced a new law: The Group Areas act. This meant that Namibian people were to be divided into their different ethnic groups and had to live in the areas which were chosen for them. On 10 December 1959, protests around this law escalated and led to the Windhoek Massacre. Listen to this audio-clip to learn more about this tragic event. Download the Exploradio app on Google Play (coming soon) or on iOS (currently free) to hear more about Namibia. The app also has a GPS-function to link the audio clips with monuments and other points of interest and if you prefer to read, you can find a long description on the app. For more information visit our website. www.audioguidenamibia.com Voice-Artist: Sylvie Sij Hashimwe Written by: Sylvie Sij Hashimwe An Exploradio Audioguide Namibia Production
