This is quite possibly one of the most informative, educational, entertaining, and enlightening podcasts the internet has ever experienced. Your hosts tonight are the always entertaining and sometimes fud Hunter of Range Hot. I would like to thank my mother and God. Alrighty. I'm Quokka47, aka Dave from High Point.
And returning, well, I'd say returning is Nick, but he's not here, so we can skip over that part. But also, as a special guest, is my buddy Rob, who's another movie buff. So let's talk some guns, gear, games, movies, all that shit. So, gentlemen, how we doing? Well, if I was any better, I'd have to sit on my hands and keep from clapping. Colorful. I'm not going to top that. Doing good.
I've got another one, but I think the FCC would seize your computer if I were to say it. Oh, fuck it. Go for it. What are you talking about? This is all recorded anyways. It ain't live. Nevertheless, I'll save it for when you've been an extra good boy. Oh, okay. That sounds even creepier. You know I like it when you're a good boy. Oh, you guys are getting super creepy now.
You think this is creepy? What if I finish this glass of bourbon and get my shirt off? Rob, are you drinking anything? I just had an energy drink. Energy drink? Nothing too special. It's 9 o'clock for us. It's 6 o'clock here. It's like a garage beer. Hunter, what are you drinking? I'm kind of slumming it tonight. Was that bullet? Yeah. That's slumming it. Yeah. You know what this is? What?
Besides the ball of bullet. What did you give me a shot? It was bullet. Was it bullet? No. No. It was whatever Patrick had. Yeah. It wasn't makers. It was Buffalo trace. Buffalo trace. Buffalo trace. Yeah. There was about two fingers left of that. And I give the rest of it to Camille. So it got finished more or less. That's not bad. Well, I guarantee you Camille finished it. Nice. Nice.
Not a drop went to waste. Well, let's ask this. So we didn't do recording last week because I was gone at the Great American Outdoor Show, which is always a actually is a decent time. But so last week, what'd you get into, man? Did you do anything? Have you shot anything? Uh, Yeah, it's kind of lame.
I mean, I don't mean it like that, but I'm finishing up a review on the new Charter Arms Pathfinder 2, little .22 long rifle revolver. It's kind of a weird, it's a three and a half inch barrel. So it's not a snubby and it's not a target revolver. It's just, it's kind of weird. But it's fun. It's a rimfire. Is it .22 Magnum? .22 Long Rifle. Oh, .22LR. Okay. Yeah.
But I partnered with RCBS at Shock, and we got off to a pretty good start. I'm doing a series on the basics of reloading. That's cool. That'll be interesting. So, you know, it's kind of sponsored by RCBS. Of course, I've had RCBS gear, you know, for a long time. Right. New stuff, which is good, but it's not that worse than the old stuff. Worse than the old, okay.

Chapter 2: What insights do the hosts share about their recent experiences?
when you're loading a straight wall pistol cartridge, especially you've got, you know, you've got the powder in your pan, you've charged the pan. Okay. And so the funnel is essentially where you put the case there and then dump the powder in. Okay. But you know, I've always used just plastic funnels and they were, and they're fine, but there's, it's kind of a one size fits all. So like,
If you're using a 45 auto, which is a really wide case, then yeah, there it is up there. Go up just a wee bit. Wee bit more. Wee bit. Wee bit. To your left. I'm going to tell you what, man. It is damn nice. Son of a bitch. Yeah. I was like, wow. It's worth $100. I know that sounds crazy, but it's worth $100.
With wide mouth cases like the 45 Auto on the cheaper $15 or $20 funnels, when you get the really wide 10-40, 45, it's not a great fit. Generally, you don't spill powder, but it's not as good a fit as these machine adapters. I know that's lame. Maybe it's not sexy gear. Everything doesn't have to be sexy gear. Let's be honest about it.
It certainly makes your transition from fucking pan to case infinitely better. Yeah, I'm still like... I get it, but I'm half scratching my head still. Oh, there we go. Now I get it. This is what I was looking for, the photo. So a bunch of brass that's already been sized. Right. You drop your adapter onto your case mouth and dump your powder in. That's 223. No, no, I know. I'm just saying.
I was looking for that visual. Oh, okay. Using a progressive press, I'm sort of trying to think. I'm like, I don't still really get how you use this thing. But now I've seen a photo. Right. Which I guess to explain it, yes. The adapter drops on. It sits on over your casing so you can drop your powder charge into your rounds that you're staging up to reload. Press the bullet in. Okay.
With the plastic case... Where you see the aluminum there, excuse me, with the plastic funnel, that aluminum, the funnel is longer, and it's cut at a really aggressive V. So it's kind of like I say, a one-size-fits-all. Right. And it works. Now, for .223, .308, 9mm, it's not bad. But now the 9mm goes up there pretty good ways for the case mouth to hit the angle inside the funnel. Right.
But when you get to like 40, 10mm, and then especially like anything .45 caliber or larger, the one-size-fits-all plastic funnel is – it's mediocre at best. Okay. It's because it's so wide at the end. It's barely, it's barely sticking in where this one, you know, you got to change the adapter, but it's a, it's a better fit. It's a lot more tactile. It's, it's anodized.
So you're not getting a lot of static electricity trying to hold your powder down. Right. Cause if you're not careful, you can build up static in that plastic powder in, and then you'll see flakes sticking to the phone. I've seen that shit. Even with just with the, um, um, What do you call it? The two holes of powder in general on my press. Right, exactly.
I've seen powder start climbing up because of static electricity and some pretty wild shit. With that anodizing on the aluminum, it should cut weight out on that. I don't know, man. I thought that out of everything that RCBS sent me, it's my fucking favorite. I pulled it out of the box. I'm like, oh my God. I've been looking at it. Simple minds. Hey, you know, but that's all right, man.

Chapter 3: How do the hosts compare the original and new versions of The Running Man?
Oh, nice. Um, and I know I met one of the guys, I think it's two of them. I think, uh, I met the one dude a couple of years ago at gun con. Um, I would say you would enjoy his style, I think. Oh, really? Okay. Might be something more you might be checking out. Not saying you need the education, but even just for the entertainment value. Dude, here's the thing, man.
You know, reloading is like anything else. I've been doing it a long time, but I don't know it all. I don't know shit about reloading. I just do. You know, I love getting exposed to new people because you never know what little tidbit you're going to pick up. Right. Or, you know, it's just like going in. I mean, me taking the damn basic pistol class.
You think you're going to pick up nothing, but then you're like, oh, okay. So yeah, man. Yeah. Text me a link to it. And I'll absolutely check it out. I will. I will. I love, I love talking about reloading whole bunches. I love listening to my dad. My dad got me into it, but.
This fella by the name of Bobby Simpson is who had a pretty good hand in my understanding reloading, and he was a bench-rest shooter, like a real bench-rest shooter. I mean, he had a $7,000 or $8,000 rifle, and that's 1980s money. Right, right. And he would show me how to reload for precision rifle.
The guy was an amazing genius, but I've seen him go out at 100 yards with a .22 PPC or BR and shoot five rounds in about a .23 caliber hole. Damn. Yeah, huh? I mean, he was a for real bench rest shooter. Here's something shooting wise I wanted to share was this. A Tavor. They doing another one? This has been out for a while. I'm pretty sure it's been out for a while.
Yeah, it's been out for a few years. But Rob, you have one of these, don't you? I do, yeah. Yeah, I actually got it earlier this year and then was, yeah, I can't say that I spent too much time shooting it yet. What do you mean? What happened? Yeah. No, I, it's funny enough.
No, I, I had it for a while and I knew I was come on and you mentioned like, Oh, Hey, you know, go throw some rounds through it, you know, comment on the show. That is a shotgun. Yeah. Yep. Semi auto shotgun. Yep. That's a fucking shotgun. Yeah. I'm looking at it and I'm like, that fucking thing is ugly.
Then I see a fucking two or three quarter number eight, fucking 12 gauge hole there in the head. I'm like, wait a minute. Yeah. Yeah. I got it specifically for just, you know, home defense, right? Yeah. No, but it's pretty awesome.
So I actually went out this last week to go fire it and throw literally one round down, feel my phone going off, going, all right, hang on a second, step back, pull my phone out. And they were like, my son's got 103 fever. It's his daycare. Need to come pick him up. Oh, my God.

Chapter 4: What are the key differences between the original and the remake of The Running Man?
If you're going to do that, do it like Sin City. Okay, well, hold on. Let me pause you there, Hunter. I'm not going to disagree with you on that, but the problem is you go the Sin City route, I think you're merely cutting out a whole bunch of audience people. That's too stylized. It's too much. They don't want to see that shit. I think that's where the John Wick succeeded because it is flashy.
It is colorful. It looks awesome.
Chapter 5: How do the hosts feel about the portrayal of violence in movies?
It's a world you want to see. It's not the world you live in, but you're getting this cool over-the-top shooting and action. Because Cincinnati, both of them, they're awesome. I like both those flicks. But there's a shit ton of people that want nothing to do with that visual, though. It's too much. They don't want that style. No, bullshit.
The way they're filmed, when you sit down and when it opens, it's high contrasty. It's selective coloring.
Chapter 6: What makes a movie a 'perfect' film according to the hosts?
You already know, okay, this is going to be complete bullshit from start to finish. I can accept that because it's a high fantasy, dark fantasy recreation of a fucking novel. Right. All right, fine. To me, I'm viewing an alternate universe through a fucking peephole where physics doesn't exist like I know it. That's how I can wrap my brain around enjoying something like that. Sure.
Because it's so outlandish. Sure. But the Keanu Reeves flick – one more time, please.
Chapter 7: How do the hosts compare horror films like The Thing and The Shining?
John Wick. John Wick. That is supposedly – filmed in such a realistic manner that you're expecting me to blame even like 0.5% of my fucking gray matter. I think you're exaggerating by saying it was filmed in a realistic manner. I mean, you gotta remember again, that first film in particular was a super low budget flick. It did for nothing. It ended up looking good and being entertaining.
And now, yes, its sequels have spawned and gone beyond and are way over the top. Four dudes or five dudes. Okay, but 40... Hold on. Now you're pushing us in the technical aspect of it. Go watch the first one again. He doesn't kill that many guys in one bloody scene. The sequels, yes. The first one, no. It's only a handful of dudes and he blows away. He throws those dudes in the fucking hot tub.
he's shooting fucking guards he ain't even looking yeah there's like one or two at a time coming at him and he drops them it's not it's nothing over the top dude i'm telling you but you you understand you walk into a fucking club and there's 40 russian gangsters and you shoot two of them they don't automatically go to the fucking deli counter and take a number and go this is when i attack him they swung that motherfucker and they ass raped him for fucking 20 minutes i
I'm still saying, I think you're clouded on your hatred of the sequel series. The first one is still a pretty decent flick and it's not that over the top. It's really not. And, and, oh, and by the way, so I got a guy that, I think it's still really over the top. It's, and I've been, and I've been, I've been trained.
I got, I met this guy and he is a cinematographer and I've been buying some of his old gear. And we got to talk about movies. And do you know what? Like, he's worked in Hollywood. You know what the number one fucking rule in Hollywood is? Horror movies, especially. I have no idea. Just fucking hang on. But any movie ever made, number one rule. Needs more boobs. Yeah.
If there's a fucking dog in the movie, you don't kill the fucking dog. That's the point. That's the point they're making. That's why the movie starts with the killing of the dog. Killing the car was a gracious plenty to get what they deserved. Beating a puppy to death with a fucking ball bat Come on. They wanted you to feel something. I don't know. They wanted you angry.
Yeah, I like that aspect of it, right? I liked it. They wanted you angry. They wanted you to feel every bit of thing he was feeling, so no remorse for all these guys, so he killed everybody. They wanted you to feel okay that he was going to kill everybody, and they did. Listen, if somebody comes and stole my 89 F-350, I would ass-rape them before I murdered them, okay?
So up with my wheels, that's enough. If somebody come in here and ball batted my cat to death, I wouldn't kill them. I would go to their granddaddy. I'd ass rape their granddaddy. I would marry their grandmama. Come Christmas, I'm going to fucking butt fuck them in the ass under the fucking Christmas tree. And I'm like, your step granddaddy took your asshole virginity. You understand?
So all the shit that he did to them wasn't enough. Okay. I'm not going to argue that. However, they struck this chord. Right. And they, you know, it's a bridge. I'm with you. It's, it's tough. It's like, it's all the way back to like Wolfenstein days where like you'd play this computer game and you're shooting Nazis and it's fine. There's blood and guts everywhere.
